About the role:
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a member of a field-based team of scientists who function as an extension of the Medical Affairs organization. MSL have scientific expertise in a specific therapeutic area (TA) - MSLs engage in in-depth medical and scientific product or disease area discussions, and presentations in a non-promotional scientific context. Implement clinical and educational strategies and respond to unsolicited medical enquiries.
Key Responsibilities:
• Engage with Medical Experts (MEs) to educate on medical/scientific information
• Develop and execute ME engagement plans to effectively prioritize and strategically engage MEs aligned with country strategy
• Develop and maintain in depth knowledge for assigned products/TAs through attendance at relevant meetings, congresses, and events, and by regular self-study of scientific literature
• Respond to unsolicited requests for information from MEs
• Inform and shape medical strategy by collecting impactful insights from MEs
• Provide medical insights to cross functional groups such as Marketing, Market Access, Digital/Commercial Excellence, Regulatory, QA, etc.
• Support Novartis clinical research programs, optimize trial execution and provide scientific educational support to potential and actual study sites in collaboration with clinical operations.
• Serve as a medical resource to field matrix colleagues
• Deliver medical training to sales force and other departments as necessary and ensure their appropriate level of medical/product knowledge
• Build and maintain strong collaboration across internal key functions on local and regional/global levels

Request

Essential Requirements:
• Bilingual: English and French asset
• MD, PharmD, pharmacist, PHD or other life sciences degree & minimum 3 years pharmaceutical industry experience with previous experience as an MSL.
• Adept at coordinating/leading multifunctional teams, projects and initiatives for remote or geographically dispersed teams.
• Ability to synthesize complex scientific information and analyze it within strategic and regulatory settings.
• Knowledge of clinical trial design statistics and pharmacokinetics.
Desirable Requirements:
• Knowledge of all aspects of drug development and knowledge of Canadian (national and provincial) health care systems and environment is an asset
• Oncology/hematology experience
