As an integral part of the Mental Health Program, a Proctor III will provide services to individuals experiencing multiple
needs due to mental illness and/or poor Mental Health, that requires intensive input in order to reduce risk and promote
recovery so that the individual themselves can be an active part of their community. The client, with the help of the
Mental Wellness and Recovery Practitioner, will identify specific goals and activities. The focus of Proctor III services will
be on crisis supports and rehabilitation in the areas of social behavior, life skills, self-care, medication self-
administration, coping skills, etc.
The Northern Health Region (NHR) and mental wellness services endorse the principles of risk reduction, recovery and
resiliency as per the strategic direction. All staff working within the Health Care Region will establish a context that
supports individuals, families, and communities in making healthy decisions directed toward reducing or containing the
adverse health, social, and economic consequences of behaviors, attitudes, and environments that may increase risk to
a person’s health.
