Description
The Mental Health Therapist will establish a well-publicized place of contact that any oskyak, individual, family member, or pakitahw kan s kahikan organization can contact the clinician for services
Work with individuals, families, groups, and the Nation to improve Mental Health.
Will be responsible for conducting interviews, perform testing and risk assessment sessions, assess client issues, and prepare treatment plans with client input. Maintain detailed client notes and records, prepare file summaries and closures. Finally, will document and shred client information in accordance with Health Canada medical records policies
Encourage clients to discuss emotions and experiences which contribute to their issues including substance abuse, bullying, development, anger management, Mental Health issues i.e., depression, suicidal ideation, relationships, LGBTQ2S+ issues, self-image, stress, education, or career counselling.
Involve the family whenever possible when working with osk yak
Help the osk yak to define goals, set action plans to gain insight into the issues facing them or their support systems
The Mental Health Therapist will offer client services in dealing with a variety of issues within their strengths. When faced with issues outside of their expertise they will refer clients to the appropriate resources They will maintain direct and seamless connections with all suitable resources and services required by osk yak, families or Nation members, within the Nation or nearby Urban Centers
The Mental Health Therapist will accept walk-in clients whenever possible who do not require an appointment to access help or consultation
Referred osk yak will receive services within a 72-hour period
