Job description

Overview:
BW Gold is a wholly owned subsidiary of Artemis Gold Inc (“Artemis”). Artemis is listed on the TSX Venture exchange, and is a well-financed, growth-oriented gold development company with strong financials aimed at creating shareholder value through the identification, acquisition, and development of gold properties in mining friendly jurisdictions. Our current focus is construction of the Blackwater Mine in central British Columbia approximately 160km southwest of Prince George and 450km northeast of Vancouver.

You will have the ability to make a significant contribution to the project team as the Company pursues the disciplined development of the Blackwater Mine. Artemis Gold received its BC Mines Act permit for Blackwater Mine in March 2023 enabling the project to move into major works construction.

Reporting to the Chief Metallurgist, the Metallurgist is responsible for providing technical metallurgical information and analysis to the plant related to process metallurgy, production, and cost. Initiates specialized projects to improve production performance in the processing plant.

Schedule: 2 weeks on - 2 weeks off
Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate effective safety leadership by addressing and enforcing BW Golds safety standards, procedures, and safety systems.
  • Identify and promote continuous plant improvement to achieve better metallurgical performance and overall production.
  • Provide day to day technical/metallurgical support and coaching to processing plant operations.
  • Provide direction for sampling from different stages of processing for laboratory analysis and testing.
  • Monitor and evaluate metallurgical performance; and when required, conduct test/survey programs to improve plant throughput, recovery and costs.
  • Conduct metallurgical accounting, lab/plant testing and water balance monitoring.
  • Ensure efficient operation of cyanide detoxification for tailings treatment and ensure the tailings condition meet the discharge requirement.
  • Develop, review and implement lab and process operating procedures.
  • Ensure efficient use of time and resources by coordinating work plans, prioritizing and implementing processes and procedures.
  • Gather information and conduct analysis to assist in establishing the production budget, forecast and related plans for the processing plant production.
  • Manage the activities of operators performing circuit checks and accurately measure and report process parameters and ensure all conditions complying the guidelines.
Qualifications:
  • University degree in Metallurgy, Mineral Engineering, or equivalent engineering discipline is required.
  • Professional designation or certification in a related area is preferred.
  • 4 years or more of experience in mill operation, process development, engineering design or other metallurgical experience is required.
  • Gold ore processing and solid knowledge of mineral processing and hydrometallurgy is an asset.
  • Understanding and experience in process control and continuous improvement would be as asset.
  • Good understanding of gold metallurgy and technical support of plant operations.
  • Good computer skills, familiar to Microsoft Office (Excel etc.).
  • Attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and coaching skills.
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (written and oral).
  • Ability to work at a remote location camp on a 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rotation.
  • Comfortable working and living in close quarters with the team.
  • Ability to work under extreme weather conditions.
