About the Role

Builds and modifies moulds according to blueprints and interprets the design into a three-dimensional solid object.  Test, repairs and delivers moulds and tooling.  Provides assistance and guidance to apprentices.

Your preferred qualifications

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent
  • Certificate of qualification – Mould Maker
  • Good English (both written and verbal) communication skills
  • Must possess strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to determine root cause and recommend countermeasures
  • Knowledge of Mould design / Function /  Spot in lifters and slides
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work with minimum supervision on large compression Moulds, Direct injection Mould and Hot Runner systems, robotic end of arm tooling etc.
  • Ability to Machine components to tight Tolerances and high surface finish
  • A good understanding of Hydraulic / Electrical and Cooling systems associated with Moulds
  • Read and interpret documents such as blue prints, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, rations and proportions to practical situations
  • Must be available to work midnight shifts and overtime when required 

 

 

Candidates will be required to complete a Criminal Records Check and, if deemed necessary, a Credit Check as part of the candidate selection process.

Who we are looking for

DESIRABLE ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five years related experience and / or training in an automotive production environment
  • Tool and Die Maker Certificate of qualification
  • Valid forklift license
  • Knowledge of CNC equipment and programming
  • Basic understanding of the computer
  • Support Mould trials
  • Ability to program operate sink / wire EDM
  • Familiar with CAD Modeling (Mastercam, SolidWorks, ESPRIT. Inventor)
  • TIG welding experience  
  • Valid Crane Operator license.

Your Responsibilities

  • Support shift with completing open action items
  • Production coverage / Change Over’s / Manufacturing Spares / Preventative Maintenance / C.I.’s/ Predictive Maintenance
  • Carry out daily pre-start Crane and Toolroom inspection sheet
  • Maintain a clean and organized Toolroom / 5S
  • Ensure clear communication of Midnight shift production related issues are passed onto all shifts and outstanding work is prioritized to be continued
  • Maintain good communication with Supervisor and Team Leaders by way of verbal discussions and Email.
  • Inspects and troubleshoots new Moulds
  • Operates Toolroom equipment effectively and safely
  • Assists in the tooling process as assigned while meeting the established customer requirements
  • Modify, repair and trouble shoot Moulds while working to very close tolerances from blueprints, sketches and samples
  • Maintains documentation and preventive maintenance requirement of Moulds
  • Manages daily priorities for attainment of customer satisfaction, while also meeting production schedule commitments to achieve business objectives
  • Performs assigned tasks within given timeframes and monitors/reports progress to the Mould Maker Team Leader or designate
  • Actively participates in continuous improvements, dimensional quality concerns and customer issues and supports department goals and objectives
  • Contributes to a positive work environment by demonstrating and sharing functional/technical knowledge
  • Performs all job functions abiding by the office/work standards, policies and procedures as outlines in the company handbook.
