Job description

The Essex Region Conservation Authority is seeking a Multimedia Specialist.

The Multimedia Specialist is responsible for providing design and maintenance of web, print, signage, and other digital media for Essex Region Conservation (Authority & Foundation). This position reports to the Director, Communication and Outreach Services, and works collaboratively across all departments to ensure that all work products exceed expectations and enhance the Authority’s credibility and reputation for excellence.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Designs and prepares artwork and graphics for web, print, signage, social and other media across a variety of service areas and stakeholder touch points.
  • Prepares layouts and arranges production of publications, reports, brochures, displays, campaigns, signage, forms and other materials as required, utilizing a wide array of technical content, as provided by various departments and team members.
  • Maintains Essex Region Conservation’s websites, including creating and enhancing web-based and interactive features and SEO.
  • Provides visual creative for digital, video, email, social media, advertising, experiential and more.
  • Provides photography, videography and video editing services and captures, converts, and optimizes audio and video recording for use on the web.
  • Maintains corporate graphic standards and brand identity throughout all design and maintains an organized digital image and content library for use in various design projects.
  • Complies with AODA standards for communications and designs or remediates documents and other media, utilizing various software tools, to ensure accessibility requirements are met for posting public documents.
  • Supports Essex Region Conservation at a variety of events and activities.
  • Publishes content, campaigns and reports on analytics for all digital properties & social media channels.
  • Liaises with vendors and subcontractors to obtain quotes for goods and services in compliance with ERCA’s procurement policy.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities consistent with the position, as required.

MINIMUM SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post secondary Diploma in Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience, as deemed acceptable to the Employer.
  • Minimum two years directly related experience. Previous experience in a municipal, education or Not-For-Profit environment is considered an asset.
  • Experience in content creation ( graphic design, photography, videography)
  • Strong knowledge of CSS, HTML, CMS and WIX platforms. Some knowledge of PHP, Javascript, and other web technologies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Adobe Creative, Cloud Express , (Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects, Lightroom, Audition, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Express, etc.) Microsoft OfficeSuite365.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and assimilate a wide range of content, provided in various formats, for the purposes of creating professional and AODA-compliant documents, utilized by various stakeholders, including oversight agencies, funders and decision-makers.
  • Commitment to providing exceptional customer service, employing tact and diplomacy where required.
  • Well developed communication style resulting in clear, concise, and effective communications, with an eye for accuracy and detail.
  • Flexibility to effectively work collaboratively and open to receiving input and feedback accompanied by the initiative and self-direction to work independently, when required.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize work where deadlines and requests can change quickly with short deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and others.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Typically, 35 hours per week (Monday – Friday, 8:30am to 4:00 pm). Evening and weekend hours may be required along with ability to work a flexible schedule. Occasional schedule changes and overtime on short notice.
  • Hazards and Risks: Normal office risks
  • Environmental conditions: Work is primarily performed within a standard office environment, and regularly requires periods of visual and mental concentration of 2 to 4 hours duration, prolonged sitting (and associated physical strain), and fine motor movements related to computer use.
