Job description

Reporting to the Corporate Production Control Manager for the NARMCO Group, the Corporate Packaging Coordinator is responsible for specialized packaging and container sourcing and purchasing, applicable to all NARMCO facilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee purchasing of containers and packaging for manufactured products, including WIP and finished goods where applicable, relevant to all NARMCO Group facilities.
  • Provide Narmco's manufacturing facilities and plant staff as it relates to all container and packaging issues and concerns.
  • Ensure that all container and packaging standards meet all company specific requirements.
  • Isolate and report main causes of container and packaging non-conformance issues, internal and external. Utilize problem solving skills to provide prompt resolution.
  • Provide internal container and pack design for all new programs consistent with the Narmco manufacturing facilities WIP (work in process) and finished goods where applicable.
  • Assure that proper container fleet and system days are assigned to each new program, internal and external.
  • Assure that pack density as well as weight limits are properly utilised to minimize material handling and labour cost.
  • Work with Narmco Customers to assist in providing container and packaging solutions that best suit the needs of Narmco and the OEM, with key principle of cost, manufacturing lot size, production process/ergonomics and health and safety.
  • Work with Program Engineers and utilize information provided in the PPQR/APQP files to develop a cost effective container and packaging at the preproduction stage of each new program. Attend PPQR meetings, report on new program status.
  • Work proactively with the Narmco manufacturing facilities and all external customers to improve the packaging to assure safety, quality and delivery of all goods.
  • Provide proper training to plant personnel related to customer reporting systems and procedures, including container tracking and reporting, broken container tracking and reporting, customer inventory requests.
  • Maintain up to date Narmco container inventory across all plants.
  • Provide recommendations on purchase of new containers and packaging for WIP as well as scrap/disposal of broken/unusable fleet inventory.
  • Attend new program 300 piece runs to review and analyse all new containerization and packaging, including totes, WIP, finished goods, blank pallets, dunnage, etc.
  • Maintain professional relationship with Customer and Packaging Suppliers.
  • Provide adequate solution to service containerization and packaging, including non returnable containers (NRC's).

Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or three (3) years of experience in packaging/containerization purchasing agent role.
  • Supply chain experience an asset but not mandatory.
