This role is based at our Tumbler Ridge office, and successful candidates will be expected to relocate to the area in order to support our on-site operations.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Drive the 'Infrastructure Refresh' project, ensuring the strategic replacement of Firewalls, Switches, Gateways, and Wireless APs across all our sites to modernize our Network Infrastructure.
  • Administer, troubleshoot, and enhance our complex Network Infrastructure, including CISCO Switches, Firewalls, Radio networks, Internet connectivity, phone systems, IDF, MDF, and Data Centers at the mine sites and the Head Office.
  • Collaborate closely with the network support team to ensure the seamless functioning of our IT/OT applications, focusing on network communication design and Point-to-Point radio communication.
  • Provide expertise in network discovery, port mapping, creating network flow diagrams, and interconnectivity to maintain and improve information flow in the offices and mining operation areas.
  • Regularly visit Conuma's mine sites to implement new hardware, maintain communication systems, and troubleshoot any issues, enhancing inter-site and inter-building communication via radios and fiber optics.
  • Mentor and guide junior IT team members, providing coaching and training to ensure effective maintenance and troubleshooting of the Network, Switches, and Firewalls.
  • Oversee and maintain repeater stations, tower infrastructure, Fiber/Copper, and PTP/PMP radios, ensuring robust data/voice services provisioning and maintenance of existing tower infrastructure.
  • Contribute to the IT strategy and infrastructure technology roadmap, offering insights and inputs to align the Network Infrastructure with organizational goals.
  • Manage and secure all edge devices and internal security points, utilizing current and next-generation firewall technologies to maintain a secure network environment.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.

Education, Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree/Diploma in Information Technology, or comparable industry certifications with the ability to demonstrate equivalent competencies.
  • Previous experience in mining or other industrial environment is considered an asset.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in senior IT roles, with expertise in multisite Network Infrastructure.
  • Cisco and MS certifications are highly regarded, with Cisco Certification for Network and Security (CCNP) preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with Cisco Switches (Meraki), Palo Alto Firewall, Field Area Networks, Wi-Fi APs, and Cambium P2P Radio Networks.
  • Hands-on experience with Windows servers and VMWare.
  • Strong administration skills in both Wired and Wireless networks, with a focus on delivering a robust and comprehensive IT framework.
  • Expertise in Cyber Security, LAN, WAN, WLAN, VOIP, and WWAN design and implementation.

Technical Competencies & Skills

  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Must be able to work 8-hour day and night shifts; on a 5x2 rotation.
  • Fluent communication in English, with exceptional oral and written skills.
  • A proven safety and attendance record, demonstrating reliability and responsibility.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills, particularly in commercially impactful situations.
  • Capability to provide first response and full remediation support for network outages during and after regular business hours.
  • A high degree of dependability, consistently focused on achieving results and meeting objectives.
  • Adherence to high standards of health and safety performance, actively contributing to a safe work environment.
  • Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills, capable of managing tasks independently and meeting deadlines.

Wage and Benefits

Conuma Resources takes pride in providing industry-competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package that truly values our employees. Specifically for the Network Infrastructure Specialist role, we offer an annual base salary range of $90,000.00 - $105,000.00, along with a variety of bonuses. These bonuses include monthly efficiency bonuses linked to safety and production, quarterly retention bonuses, and a performance bonus tailored to reward your contributions. Our benefits package also includes paid vacation and personal days, 7% RRSP matching, and 100% employer-paid extended health and dental care, among other valuable perks.

Employee Transportation

This role is based in our Tumbler Ridge Office, however, regular travel to Conuma's Mine Site locations near Tumbler Ridge and Chetwynd will be required.

  • Tumbler Ridge to our Wolverine Mine, Brule Mine, and Willow Creek Mine
  • Chetwynd to our Brule Mine and Willow Creek Mine
  • Dawson Creek to our Willow Creek Mine
  • Mackenzie to our Willow Creek Mine
