Who you are
You will work out of the CNSC’s Site Office on the premises of the Chalk River Laboratories (CRL) near Deep River, Ontario and be part of the team maintaining compliance oversight of activities at the CRL site as well as at other sites that are the responsibility of the Canadian Nuclear Laboratories Regulatory Program Division. You will be the first line providing field information from the CRL site to the rest of the team.

What you’ll do

Reporting to the Nuclear Facility Site Office Supervisor, your role will include inspecting, auditing, evaluating, and monitoring the licensee’s performance, contributing to Commission hearings and meetings, and participating in outreach activities and CRL site tours with external stakeholders.

Essential Qualifications:

Education:
  • A degree in Science or Engineering from a recognized university or an equivalent combination of education and relevant job knowledge

Experience:
  • Managing, operating, administering, or regulating a licensed nuclear facility;
  • Regulation or implementation of radiation or environmental protection programs; and
  • Investigating events or accidents at industrial or Nuclear Facilities and formulating or implementing corrective actions

Knowledge of:
  • Nuclear Safety and Control Act, associated regulations, and CNSC licensing process;
  • Class I facility design, construction, commissioning, operations or maintenance;
  • Emergency operating procedures and understanding of provincial emergency operating centers;
  • Safety analysis for a typical licensed nuclear facility;
  • Inspection and investigation principles and practices; and
  • Radiological, environmental safety, and occupational health and safety principles and practices.

Language Requirements:
  • English essential

Ability to:
  • Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
