Position Title: Occupational Health Nurse

Team and Location: People and Culture Total Rewards – Calgary, AB

Salary: $100,000 per year

Position Summary: 

Parkland is looking for an experienced Occupational Health Nurse to join our Health and Wellness team in Calgary. This position is accountable for the management of Parkland’s Occupational Health programs and Workers Compensation across Canada. This role is a great fit for an Occupational Health Nurse that is excited to be part of a larger health and wellness team that includes Benefits, Pension, and non-occupational leaves and disability. A key area of this role is designing and implementing programs and refinements with exceptional change management and team engagement for health promotion and education, appropriate to Parkland’s diverse workforce.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead occupational illness and injury / WCB case management in all the regions Parkland operates across Canada. Including claims, modified duties, return to work, claim costs, rebates and refunds. 
  • Works with external medical staff as required to support employees and manage health programs. 
  • Manages pre-employment medical evaluations, supporting the diverse business needs across Canada.  
  • Partner with teammates to develop training and communications for healthy living programs and initiatives. 
  • Manages and maintains confidential health records. 
  • Provides services to our HS&E teams to support the development of HS&E policies, procedures, programs, standards, and safe work practices. 
  • Develops and implements Illness and Injury Management programs for Parkland.  
  • Supporting our teammates with these same requirements with Parkland USA. 

Qualifications and Skills: 

  • An active provincial nursing license as Registered Nurse (or equivalent). 
  • Certification in Occupational Health Nursing preferred. 
  • 7 years of progressive experience in an Occupational Health related role; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. 
  • French language, certification in spirometry, substance abuse management are all considered assets. 
  • Current knowledge of local, provincial and federal Occupational Health and safety acts and regulations is needed. 
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and competing priorities under tight deadlines. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Computer skills, including MS-Office. 
  • Able to professionally deal with confidential information. 
  • Ability to work with discretion, tact, and good judgment. 
  • Ability to travel to various company locations as required.
