Haab Ventures is looking for a Controller/Office Manager to join our team for a temporary (15-month) term.
The Controller will take on all aspects of financial management and reporting, as well as the development and improvement of internal control policies and procedures, property management, job costing, and assisting in day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting actives.
They must have strong inter-personal skills and the ability to communicate clearly and in a timely manner while demonstrating a high level of professional and personal integrity. This is a full-time position, but we are open to part-time if needed.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing all financial and accounting operations and preparing monthly reports
- Monitoring and reconciling intercompany transactions
- Developing and improving internal controls and procedures
- Commercial and residential property management
- Payroll, as well as preparation of T4s
- Provide support for accounts payable and accounts receivable as needed
- Calculation and filing of GST, PST, and WCB remittances
- Correspondence and communication with the CRA as required
- Ensure adequate documentation is maintained to assure consistency and accuracy of activities
- Preparation of books and records for year-end financial statement preparation
Key characteristics and skills must include:
- Strong accounting, computer and analytical skills
- Clear and precise communication
- Ability to prioritize and juggle multiple deadlines at a time
- 3+ years experience working in Sage 50
- 5+ years experience working in an office setting
- Maintain a high degree of professional and personal integrity, and lead by example
- Ability to address challenges as they arise in a creative, positive, and professional matter
