AltaGas - Operator 1, Gordondale
Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, this position is for a Plant Operator at the Gordondale Gas Plant. The Operator is responsible for daily operations including facility operations & troubleshooting, coordination of other workers on site and effective communication of operational activities. The Operator will also ensure that activities conducted on worksites are completed in compliance with all AltaGas and external 3rd party policies/requirements.
You will:
  • Daily operation of the Gordondale facilities, working the 12-hour day/night shift schedule, on a week on - week off rotation.
  • Leads in the safe and efficient operation of all scheduled and unscheduled work including issuing safe work permits and all associated documentation to ensure the workers safety.
  • Ensures plant production and reliability.
  • Mentoring and training of junior employees to promote a safe operating environment.
  • Updates and develops operating procedures.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process upsets
  • Participates in commissioning, turnaround planning, and start-ups.
You have:
  • Grade 12 education or equivalent
  • Minimum 4th Class Power Engineering certificate, preference given to candidates with 3rd class Power Engineering Certificate.
  • Minimum 5 years plant operation.
  • Gas plant and power generation experience would be considered an asset.
  • The ability to work under limited supervision, drawing on previous experience, good judgement and standard procedures.
