Ophthalmic Assistant

Responsibilities: (will train on the job)
- Perform preliminary patient work-up, including taking patient history, measuring visual acuity, and performing diagnostic tests
- Assist ophthalmologists with examinations, procedures, and surgeries
- Prepare examination rooms with necessary instruments and supplies
- Educate patients on proper eye care and contact lens use
- Medical charting
- Coordinate patient appointments and manage the front desk as needed
- Assist with optical sales and dispensing eyewear
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients and their families
- Ensure compliance with all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality

Requirements:
- Previous experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant or in a similar role preferred
- Knowledge of ophthalmic equipment and instruments
- Familiarity with medical terminology related to ophthalmology
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems, such as Epic
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and patient needs

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Salary: $18.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 – 32 per week
