Position Summary

 

The Organizational Development Consultant role drives strategic activities to support changing our beliefs, attitudes, values, culture and structure so that we can better adapt to change, improve effectiveness, performance and remain competitive in the future workplace. The role reports into the Associate Director of Organizational Development and Change Management, and is an exciting opportunity to join a newly established Organizational Development and Change Management Office within the People & Equity Division. This involves working collaboratively and in partnership with business leaders and P&E colleagues, the incumbent will develop strategies and plans to deliver on Empowerment as defined in the College’s 3E’s framework.

 

The incumbent will shape an organizational design framework that provides a systematic and structured approach to aligning organizational structures with our organizational goals, strategy, and culture to enable effectiveness, efficiency, and adaptability in achieving the desired outcomes. The focus includes identifying Organizational Development priorities, formulating recommendations, and designing programs (e.g., high-potential identification) and training based on leading practices. Beyond this, the consultant acts as an advisor to leadership, facilitates employee engagement initiatives, and provides progress reports to executives and senior managers. They lead consultations and workshops with business partners, project teams, and sponsors on key principles and tools for Organizational Development and design.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conducts research and facilitates thought leadership, identifies emerging market trends and best practice relating to Organizational Development and design, and extracts implications for strategic focus areas.
  • Assesses the needs of operating, business, and functional units; evaluating existing and proposed strategies and programs against OD principles and leading practices.
  • Analyzes the organizational structures, evaluating the efficiency of processes, and consultations to understand and recommend development opportunities
  • Identifies the Organizational Development priorities and develops recommendations, programs, training, and action plans.
  • Collaborates closely with Change Management Consultants to craft integrated change plans OD initiatives and for effective structural and team stabilization changes.
  • Develops and monitors project and program plans, tracks, and follows up on risks, and reporting.
  • Acts as an advisor to the leadership and facilitates employee engagement initiatives.
  • Leads consultations and workshops with business partners, projects teams, and sponsors on key principles and tools to support the delivery of Organizational Development and design initiatives.
  • Shapes a strategic organizational design framework, integrating it with divisional and departmental goals, strategy, and culture to enhance effectiveness, efficiency, and adaptability.
  • Develops strategies and plans for Empowerment within the College’s 3E’s framework in collaboration with business leaders and P&E colleagues.
  • Develops organizational frameworks such as high-potential (HiPo) to pin-point individuals for future leadership roles
  • Designs and executes key strategies, policies, and programmatic elements of the OD process.
  • Plans, implements, and leads customized employee and team development programs to increase the effectiveness of employees within their roles and teams.

 

 

Qualifications/Experience

  • Post graduate degree (ex., Masters) in a related field preferred or equivalent combination of education with a focus on Organizational Development, Organizational Behavior, or another similarly related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Organization Development Certified Professional (ODCP) certification considered an asset.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in Organizational Development and design
  • Experience leading complex organization-wide projects and initiatives with multiple stakeholders and clients.
  • Solid understanding of leadership and talent management and change management
  • Proven experience in Organizational Development, organizational design and effectiveness, and
  • Strong understanding of organizational behaviour, design, development theories and practices
  • Demonstrated strong relationship-building and excellent verbal and written communication skills for preparing presentations, reports and proposals, and meeting with stakeholders
  • Excellent program and project management and communication skills
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with various levels of the organization. 
  • Highly collaborative and adaptable, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and creatively.
