The Role:

Job Function: The Organizational Development Specialist, Organizational Development is a pivotal role at Mainstreet Credit Union, responsible for driving talent development initiatives aligned with the organizational culture and strategic objectives. Reporting directly to the Director of Organizational Development, this position plays a crucial role in enhancing employee capabilities, fostering a learning culture, and contributing to overall organizational effectiveness.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Organizational Development:

  • Collaborate with the Director of Organizational Development to assess and enhance talent and Organizational Development programs.
  • Design and implement employee engagement strategies, focusing on culture, team dynamics, and their impact on member satisfaction.
  • Anticipate and assess internal and external factors, recommending continuous improvement strategies for talent and Organizational Development.
  • Align talent development programs with business strategies to ensure they contribute to the overall success of the Credit Union.
  • Develop and implement measurement systems to enhance job performance, including performance evaluation processes and job descriptions.
  • Develop and implement best-in-class new hire onboarding and orientation.
  • Develop internal learning strategies that reinforce the corporate culture and brand.

Employee Development:

  • Conduct organizational needs assessments in conjunction with annual planning and budgets.
  • Design, develop, and deliver programs based on adult learning principles or recommend external training consultants as needed.
  • Provide coaching and post-training support to ensure the successful transfer of learning to the workplace.
  • Develop and implement measurement tools and processes, ensuring participant and organizational feedback is documented and evaluated.
  • Identify and address learning gaps, developing strategies for correction.
  • Support leaders and staff in identifying career paths and establishing learning plans.
  • Ensure support is in place for employees to identify career paths and establish learning plans for personal and professional development.
  • Manage the internal learning management system and coordinate training schedules, facilities, trainers, participants, equipment, and course materials.
  • Actively network with others inside and outside the credit union system.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned.

Skills:

  • Expert knowledge of and experience in the application of adult teaching/learning.
  • Experience in the design and delivery of leadership training and development.
  • Advanced skills in leading conflict resolution, project management, process improvement, and problem-solving.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint & Forms
  • Proven experience in diagnosing organization systems and designing and executing appropriate OD interventions.

Soft Skills:

  • Consulting, coaching, and influencing skills.
  • Superior problem-solving, analytical, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Utmost discretion, tact, and diplomacy, and confidentiality due to exposure to HRIS data, labour relations information, and confidential HR information.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Business, Leadership, Organizational Development, or a related field.
  • Certification in Adult Education, Facilitation Skills, Values-Based Leadership, or Crucial Conversations preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years working in an Organizational Development or HR environment preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
  • Well-developed knowledge of Organizational Development and trends in education/student organizational design.
  • Direct experience building and maintaining effective consulting relationships with senior leaders.
