At Early Minds Out Of School Care we believe learning should be fun and exciting for children. Our program is a safe and caring environment that allows children to explore new learning capabilities, create friendships, and most importably, have fun. Early Minds uses activities and lessons that are designed to develop and improve physical, emotional and other sensory skills, while reinforcing good social stills. All activities provide a positive experience for both children and parents.
We are looking for highly passionate, motivated individual who loves working with children (K-6) to join our team.
Position Located in Chestermere
Applicants must be able to work:
- 6:45am-9:30am and 2:00pm-6:00pm (Monday- Friday) - Out of School Care Hours
- 9:00am - 6:00pm (Monday - Friday) - Kinder Care Program
- Additional hours on PD Days etc.
This position requires applicants to be able to creating daily, weekly and monthly planning of activities. You will be required to actively supervise and engage children in an enriched program. Must be able to assist in the classroom and provide activities that are suitable for the age of the children in the program. You must be able to create bonds with the children, families and staff.
Current childcare first aid/CPR and police record check including vulnerable sector.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Planning both long and short-range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice and program philosophy
- Participate in a positive, warm environment in which the children feel free to express themselves and choose activities appropriate to their age and personal preferences
- Meet the emotional, social, physical and cognitive needs of each child
- Encourage assistants to contribute to curriculum planning
- Coordinate Out of School Care activities
- Daily communication with parents in a professional and respectful manner
- Prepare monthly plan charts
- Complete quarterly assessment of children's development
- Record and maintain all incident reports
- Maintain records, documents and confidentiality
- Adhere to Early Minds Policy on Discipline
- Arrange a classroom environment in accordance to program goal and philosophy
- Tidy, clean and maintain program premises
- Be familiar with emergency procedures
- Establish routines and provide positive guidance
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment in accordance to the Alberta’s Health and Safety Guide Supervise assistants, aides and volunteers in the classroom
- Meet all applicable licensing regulations as per Alberta’s Child Care Licensing Regulations
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma
- Early Child Care Certificate/Diploma - Level 2 or above
- Alberta driver’s license
- Reliable transportation is required
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR (can be obtained upon hire within a designated time frame)
- Police Clearance and Vulnerable Sector check, and ability to pass Child Welfare Intervention check All must be current within the last 6 months.
- Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with children, families and staff
- Experience in behaviour needs is required.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $16.00-$20.00 per hour
