Position Summary:
Assists the Packaging Supervisor and Manager with their duties by ensuring that the packaging lines are properly staffed and full of product and that mushrooms are packaged properly and efficiently. Provides support to departmental management with any issues which may arise.
Expected Outcomes:
- Observes and reports general conduct issues of all non-management packaging room Associates and reports issues immediately
- Effectively plans, coordinates and organizes the storage and packaging of product in the packaging department and cooler
- Completes pre-operational checks of lines and calibrates scales daily every morning
- Ensures cooler, packaging and inventory personnel fulfil their responsibilities for workplace hygiene and organization, inventory stock counts, rotation of inventory and the movement of inventory
- Communicates harvesting SKU priorities with packaging line workflow planning to ensure production line efficiencies are met while also meeting customer delivery requirements
- Supervises the general conduct of associates
- Ensures the smooth operation of all packaging operations including slice operations, packaging line operations, box making, and sanitation activities
- SAP/ ERP System understanding and knowledge and ability to train others
- Assists the Packaging Supervisor and Manager with their duties
- Ensures and that lines are full of product and properly staffed
- Ensures that mushrooms are packaged properly and efficiently per customer requirements
- Ensures proper clean up at the end of the day and enforces good housekeeping throughout the day
- Deals with equipment issues as they arise and contacts Maintenance as required and communicates with the Supervisor
- Trains new associates in their job duties
- Performs any other duties that may be assigned as required
Qualifications:
- Must be eligible to work in Canada
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Previous supervisory experience is an asset
- Prior experience in a farm environment is preferred
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent work experience required
