Position Overview
Reporting to the Senior Parks Maintenance Worker the Student Parks Maintenance Worker is responsible for a variety of manual tasks and duties. The tasks and duties of the Student Parks Maintenance Worker position will not occur without direct guidance and are typically physical in nature, require the use of simple tools and equipment and, will normally be carried out under close and direct supervision.
Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to fulfill assigned duties in all weather conditions.
• Valid Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) certificate.
• Demonstrated knowledge of safe work procedures, practices and obligations.
• Demonstrated proficiency in the safe operation of medium and light weight motorized vehicles and equipment, and various infrastructure services tools and light industrial equipment including but not limited to:
  • Zero Turn Mower
  • Small equipment
• Demonstrated initiative with specific direction; completing tasks by removing barriers and locating necessary resources.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a wide variety of situations applying diplomacy and interpersonal skill to establish and maintain productive relationships.
• Demonstrated high level of focus on internal and external client service continuously seeking ways to meet and exceed expectations.
• Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively within a team and with Town employees, stakeholders and partners to achieve optimal results.
• Demonstrates valuing diversity.

Additional Information

• Employees currently receive Wellness Initiatives, including use of facilities at Frank Jameson Community Center
• Hours of work: 40 hours per week Monday - Friday
• Temporary Seasonal: May 6, 2024 - August 2, 2024 (2 positions)

June 3, 2024 - August 30, 2024 (1 position)

• Wage rate: $21.22/hour PLUS 10.8% in lieu of annual vacations, statutory holidays and benefits
• Benefits: As per the Collective Agreement
