Should this temporary vacancy be filled by a regular full-time employee, seniority and benefits will continue in the normal manner and the regular employee will continue to maintain normal, full-time status for the duration of the appointment.

Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Supervisor and the technical direction and guidance of the Senior Payment Processing Clerk, receives and processes payments of accounts and services.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receives, and processes payment of Municipal, Provincial Land Tax Administration, TBayTel and Hydro accounts and services.
  • Processes and reconciles payments received over the counter and by mail and prepares related reports.
  • Records statistical data related to payment processing for various departments for monthly and yearly reporting.
  • Reviews, updates and corrects mailing addresses for undeliverable mail of municipal accounts.
  • Performs filing services to all sections of Revenue.
  • Performs such other related duties as may be required.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:
  • Secondary school graduation along with one year cash handling experience

Skills/Abilities:
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills together with the ability to be courteous and tactful in dealing with the public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to provide clear, concise, accurate, and timely information/explanations to customers
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to accurately perform mathematical calculations with a high degree of accuracy
  • Strong organizational skills and great attention to detail
  • Must be at a basic skill level in word processing and spreadsheet software and must possess basic on-line data entry skills
  • Competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health & Safety Act

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • Must undergo a successful Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)
  • Must take an Oath of Secrecy.
