The Role

Under the direction of the Vice President, Finance and Information Services, the Payroll and Benefits Manager is responsible for the day to day operations of the Payroll Department, and ensuring all 700+ Broadmead Care employees are paid accurately. This position provides supervision, support and direction to the payroll staff and is part of the team involved in the delivery of all Payroll and benefit services, including to external clients. This role has a significant reporting and analysis component as employee compensation is Broadmead Care’s most significant operating cost.

The Payroll and Benefits Manager is part of the Broadmead Care leadership team and is, as such, excluded from union membership.

What You Bring

You are a detail oriented, organized Payroll and Benefits professional who brings to the role:

· A degree in Business or Accounting with 5 years’ related experience in a senior payroll role

· Canadian Payroll Association CPM certification

  • Knowledge of benefit and pension plan structures
  • Previous supervisory experience providing an advanced level of guidance in a complex union environment
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Ability to work in a changing environment under strict time constraints
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in an integrated computerized Human Capital Management system
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Preference may be given to candidates with experience in the not-for-profit sector, the health care sector, Public Service Pension Plans, and/or Ceridian Dayforce
