Job description

Position Summary:

Reporting to the VP of People & Culture, the People & Culture Advisor is a key contributor to ensuring an excellent employee experience and workplace culture at Charter. This role will work closely with managers to carry out the recruitment process and is responsible for providing generalist people and culture (“HR”) support and guidance to employees and managers.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Responsible for all phases of the recruitment and selection process for multiple positions in a fast-paced, demanding high-tech environment (recruitment-related activities make up approximately 50% of the role)
  • Prepare offer letters, contract extension letters, performance letters and other employee related documentation as required to ensure action is documented in adherence to company policies and best practice
  • Research and resolve various inquiries from team members and management involving career development and policy interpretation
  • Act as an advisor to managers with respect to performance management, employee issues and employment law
  • Coach team members and managers regarding issues or potential issues in order to resolve them
  • Participate or lead various people and culture projects
  • Additional functions include all people and culture activities at all levels: i.e. from administrative tasks through to project completion
  • Various other related duties or projects as required


What you need to bring:

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management (Certificate or degree completion is required)
  • Chartered Professional in HR (CPHR) designation or working towards the designation is preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of business experience in a People & Culture / Human Resources role
  • It is preferable that a minimum of one year of this recruitment experience be in the information technology industry
  • Proven track record of recruitment for multiple and diverse positions
  • Previous experience in multi-tasking recruitment projects will be imperative as the candidate may be responsible for 10+ diverse positions at any given time
  • Experience with an Applicant Tracking System or HRIS considered an asset
  • Excellent computer skills in the Microsoft Office 365 suite of software, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Willingness to ask questions and a drive to learn

  • Positive attitude, high level of professionalism, and proven customer service orientation are key ingredients
  • Flexibility and a willingness to learn
  • Ability to work in fast-paced situations and meet deadlines

Additional Information:

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Hybrid work model, working at least 2-3 days per week at Charter's HQ
