Position Overview
The People & Culture Specialist is responsible for providing advice and operational support to aligned business managers and employees on work situations, providing a fair and transparent employee experience. This role supports multiple provinces within the assigned region and should be well versed in provincial employment laws and practices. The successful incumbent will play a key role in aligning Human Resources (“HR”) activities and initiatives with the organization’s strategic goals, supporting change management, employee advocacy with quality service and efficiency.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide timely advice, counsel and information to aligned business managers to assist them in resolving a wide range of employee issues and concerns
  • Simplify complex issues and provide proactive advice and strategies for risk management and remediation
  • Applying knowledge and experience in interpreting HR policies and procedures and providing competent advice on application of firm policies according to local employment legislations
  • Support leaders, managers and employees in areas such as employee relations, employee development, performance management, recruitment and policy interpretation
  • Administering best practice processes and contributing to operational process improvements by providing support and recommendations to the VP, People & Culture Business Partnerships
  • Contributing to the enhancement of department processes by identifying continuous improvement opportunities
  • Foster a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation and teamwork
  • Performing various HR administrative support tasks
  • Develop and maintain a cohesive working relationship with all levels of staff and management to productively build efficiencies to align with business needs
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • A team player, leader and independent thinker
  • Ambitious initiative, drive and ability to think and act proactively
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience
  • Knowledge of HR related principles and best working practices and procedures
  • Understands and ability to interpret Employment Legislation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, judgement, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
  • Client-focused, with a high level of professionalism, discretion and diplomacy
  • Ability to foster and leverage effective partnerships both internally and externally
  • Proven experience working in a fast-paced environment and ability to manage organizational changes
  • Experience working in the wealth management or financial industry an asset
Education
  • University Degree or College Diploma in Human Resources
  • CHRP is an asset
