Job description

The Plant Care Associate role is responsible for the quality, care and production of our vast inventory of tropical, uncommon houseplants.

This candidate must have a strong work ethic, possess a positive attitude, strong problem solving skills and critical thinking, be self-sufficient and take initiative.

The successful candidate will be a leader who is driven, organized and detail oriented who takes pride in their work and completing tasks with care and quality.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Using critical thinking and problem solving skills to create and execute a to-do list of tasks which consist of potting, propagating, watering treatment of pests etc.
  • Carefully hand watering plants weekly.
  • Responsible for managing and treating pests on a consistent basis.
  • Organizing grow space in a strategic way that enhances the growth of plants and efficiency of gathering orders.
  • Regularly updating website inventory quantities to accurately reflect inventory on hand.
  • Processing new inventory- analyzing and treating pests, repotting, taking photos, labelling and putting away.
  • Strive to promote the best interests of Planthaven Toronto consistently in all aspects of the business
  • Execute other duties as may be required by management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have completed high school diploma and be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Passion for indoor gardening.
  • Must use critical thinking and problem solving skills to identify what needs to be done and complete tasks independently
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Friendly, positive attitude.
  • Possesses a thirst for learning and growing.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency, handling multiple demands, setting priorities and exhibiting strong problem solving skills.
  • High standard of professionalism with excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong work ethic and integrity.
  • Detail oriented, with a commitment to precise accuracy in regards to Plant Care tasks.
  • Related product knowledge, or the willingness to learn, with a commitment to continually maintain and upgrade your personal knowledge and share with your team.
  • You are punctual and dependable, and highly value honesty, integrity, and authenticity.
  • This role will require part-time availability, with the flexibility to work longer hours if needed during busier periods.
  • The job may requires periods of standing, as well as being able to lift up to 30lbs and work in various weather conditions and environments.
