The Team

We are responsible to support and maintain the Data Platforms used in Global Finance & Risk Technology business unit.

The Platform Engineer will be responsible for the platform designing, building, testing, monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting of all data platform initiatives. This consists of tooling integration, user account provisioning, process automation, platform enhancement, and delivery of new project tasks.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Work with Big Data tools and building high performance, high throughput, and distributed data pipeline and big data platform with MinIO, Spark, Kafka, Hive, Oracle, and Trino.
  • Participate in the configuration and installation of tools to diagnose and fix complex distributed systems handling petabytes of data & drive opportunities to automate infrastructure deployments, and observability of data services.
  • Troubleshoot, system capacity, bottlenecks, basics of memory, CPU, kernel, and storage.
  • Test, monitor, administer, optimize and operate multiple big data clusters on premise and/or in cloud.
  • Partner with ETL developers in building best practices for Data Warehouse and analytics environment.
  • Investigate emerging technologies in big data space that relate to our needs and implement those technologies.
  • Documents and maintains operational procedures and processes.
  • Maintains effectiveness of data management processes to be complied with bank's policies and standards.
  • Understand of change control processes and write change requests.
  • Provide L2 production support.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • 4+ years of experience in system administration; Strong proficiency in Unix/Linux OS system, including system management, monitoring and analysis, software updates and patching, Backup & disaster recovery
  • Experience in DevOps; Proficiency in tools like Ansible, Git, Jira, Terraform, Jenkins etc.
  • Experience with Database physical and logical support. Oracle and Oracle Exadata are preferred.
  • Maintain system security strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • 3+ years of administration experience on Hadoop platform. Experience with Spark cluster, Ranger, Hive Metastore, object storage is preferred.
  • Familiarity with networking, firewalls, and load balancing
  • Experience with Cloud infrastructure and container Environments: KVM, Docker or Kubernetes. GCP is preferred
  • Assist with cloud server configurations, patches, and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Technical knowledge of virtual machines, writing code, and software as a service.
  • Experience using RESTful API-based web services and applications.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies
  • Team player with strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Able to see tasks through to completion without significant guidance
  • Self-managed and results-oriented with sense of ownership is required
  • Bachelor's degree or better in Computer Science
