Department Information

The Department of Finance has the mandate to provide leadership and direction to the public service in all areas of finance and human resource management. This mandate includes negotiating major financial arrangements with the federal government, providing analysis and advice to the Financial Management Board, and ensuring that financial and information resources are managed effectively, efficiently and economically. This mandate also includes the recruitment and retention of a competent public service that is representative of the people it serves and the development of programs and services that effectively serve the human resource needs of the public service.

Job Information

The Procurement Policy and Data Analyst will assist the Quality Assurance team of Procurement Shared Services with a wide range of projects by administering various aspects of data compilation, analytics, policy, and contract reporting. Using the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) System for Accountability and Management (SAM), and the Digital Integrated Information Management System (DIIMS) the Procurement Policy and Data Analyst will generate and prepare detailed data reports, including an annual GNWT quality assurance assessment, multiple reports each fiscal quarter, and various as-and-when reports for senior management and the public. The Procurement Policy and Data Analyst will also advise and assist with the development and refinement of procurement related policies and procedures.

We are seeking a candidate with a strong grasp of statistical principles and the ability to exercise sound judgment while employing tact, persuasion, diplomacy, and flexibility. The ideal candidate should be adept at providing recommendations and effectively communicating messages to diverse audiences, both in writing and verbally, on communication and policy matters. Analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to assess raw data and generate user-friendly reports. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word, is required, as is the ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:

A diploma in statistics, mathematics, economics, commerce, business, computer sciences, or a related field. One-year relevant experience.
