This is a part-time position, which begins in June and extends through November/December 2023 (some training available in late May) and requires being on-site 2 to 3 days/week. There are multiple positions available, which could suit differing schedules so please let us know your availability and the hours you are seeking. The work days run every Tuesday/ Wednesday through Thursday (perfect for long weekend getaways ;).
Packing House Responsibilities:
- Be a part of a dynamic team of 4-5 individuals responsible for packing 300-400+/- boxes over the week with fresh organic fruit and vegetable products for our CSA members
- Follow an organized, assembly-line like fashion that keeps things moving (along with the background tunes) and prevents errors from occuring
- Follow the guidance of your supervisors: the farmers and the site-coordinator
- Manage the use of an awesome, high-tech rinse conveyor that efficiently washes rubbermaid totes and/or vegetables for packing preparation
- Read & follow pack lists & set-up the packing area
- Lift crates of produce upwards of 20-50 lbs each; know when to ask for help and use the buddy system for heavy crates!
- Take good care of your body, ensuring good ergonomics (always!)
- Moving produce around & around! From restocking the packing area, to moving packed totes to the truck or walk-in cooler, to weighing produce from boxes into bags
- Comfortable using pallets and a pallet jack to do much of the work of moving product around
- Able to provide your own transportation to/from the farm and track your labour hours in the timesheets provided on-site

- Must adhere to food safety guidelines (training provided)
- Ability to communicate with other team members in an effective & constructive manner
- Values local, Organic Farm produce & serving our community with quality, healthy food
Compensation: We strive to ensure we meet living wage standards in Abbotsford, BC.

Site Location: 8550 Bradner Road, Abbotsford, BC | Glen Valley Organic Farm Co-op is located in West Abbotsford, a 20 minute drive to Fort Langley, alongside the Fraser River.
