Position Title: Product Owner, Loyalty

Team and Location: Enterprise Digital – Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal, Remote

Minimum Starting Salary: BC, ON & QC $72,400/ year, AB $79,600 /year

Position Summary:

The Product Owner, Loyalty is responsible for leading the development and execution of Parkland’s loyalty program strategy through the mobile app. This includes managing the entire product life cycle from design and development to production deployment and post-go live activities. They will work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, operations, IT and Finance to ensure the product meets customer needs and are delivered on time and within budget. They will collaborate with stakeholders to define the product roadmap that includes partnerships and loyalty program initiatives related to the app and loyalty platform. The Product Owner, Loyalty will also be responsible for balancing priorities, defining user stories, soliciting input on requirements with key business SMEs, defining acceptance criteria and measures of success, and end acceptance of the feature/enhancement.

Key Responsibilities: 

Champion Loyalty & Partnership Enhancement Delivery & Deployment

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders throughout Parkland, including Marketing, Merchandising, Operations, Finance and IT to understand and anticipate their needs and translate them into product requirements that enhances Parkland’s mobile app capabilities and the digital customer experience.
  • Establish, prioritize and own backlog for the mobile product roadmap to support business cases across Parkland that leverages the mobile app as well as continuously improve operational excellence, reliability, performance, security and cost optimization for the mobile app.
  • Oversee and manage all stages to create, expand and optimize mobile app capabilities including design, development, and quality assurance.
  • Responsible for balancing priorities, defining user stories and requirements, soliciting input on requirements with key business SMEs, defining acceptance criteria and measures of success, and end acceptance of the feature/enhancement.
  • Monitor and evaluate product progress at each stage of the process with active involvement in sprint planning and backlog refinement activities.
  • Liaise with technical teams and stakeholders to deliver updates and ensure that enhancements and bug fixes are delivered to the market in a timely and effective manner.

Solution Development & Execution

  • Develop future state customer experience by incorporating industry best practices, a user centric design approach, and steering continuous improvement through a data-driven methodology.
  • Prioritizing features: Working with stakeholders to prioritize features and ensuring that products are delivered to market in a timely and effective manner.
  • Lead and manage technical teams and agile squads to deliver new features for the mobile app with a relentless focus on the client experience, stakeholder engagement and execution to meet desired objectives.
  • Develop rollout plans that support mobile app adoption and acceptance – including value-based communications and technical education across a variety of user groups.
  • Engage with stakeholders to build alignment in overarching objectives, confidence in the path ahead, solicit feedback, ensure readiness for rollout and acceptance, and hold to account in delivering initiative benefits.
  • Work closely with the Digital team to help ensure that product development is completed within the budgeted cost and scope of work.
  • Measure and monitor user engagement and mobile app health with tools and understand overall satisfaction with the user experience.
  • Socialize and educate the broader business to take a user centric approach in designing and implementing digital solutions.
  • Support change management efforts associated with achieving initiative objectives, with a heavy emphasis on end user adoption and utilization of digital solutions.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Computer Science, IT, or related field strongly preferred. AWS certification is an asset.
  • 4+ years of experience as a Product Owner or similar role. Experience in digital commerce, convenience and gas industry is an asset.
  • In-depth knowledge of Scrum and Agile Software Development Methodology.
  • Proficient computer skills and competent with Microsoft Office programs as well as Jira and Confluence.
  • Working knowledge of product development architecture.
  • Proficiency in the use of analytic tools.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent knowledge of user-centered design principles.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Understanding of design quality standards.
  • Proven collaborator and ability to connect a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Sound organizational, analytical, judgement and decision-making skills with proven abilities in problem solving.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build and maintain relationships through collaboration.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
