Production Engineering Intern

Peyto is currently seeking a Production Engineering Summer Student for a 4-month term starting in May 2024. During your summer, you will obtain a general understanding of gas field production and operations and have the opportunity to work with experienced Engineers and field staff as part of the production operations and emissions team. You will make meaningful contributions while gaining valuable skills to advance your development as an Engineer.

Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

The first two weeks of the work term will be spent in the Calgary office where the successful applicant will receive training on Peyto’s greenhouse gas (GHG) equipment inventory, including:

· Learn and become proficient with Peyto proprietary SCADA Data Capture System, Verdazo Data Viewer and various other software packages.

· Organize documents in the engineering file room and data drives.

· Obtain an understanding of Peyto’s operations and emissions management programs.

· Obtain an understanding of provincial and federal emission regulations.

The remainder of the term will be spent in the field. Peyto will provide training that will allow the successful applicant to obtain an in-depth understanding of natural gas fired and venting equipment. The successful applicant will work with field operations to collect and verify equipment inventory that will be used for GHG reporting purposes. Duties and responsibilities will increase in complexity as the applicant develops their skills. However, there will always be experienced personnel to provide training and guidance as required.

Additionally, you may also be directed to perform general maintenance and housekeeping duties throughout the gas plants and wellsites. This could include painting and cleaning of process buildings and/or equipment.

You will be required to take a first aid training course, WHMIS and H2S awareness in addition to Peyto’s safety orientation course. This training will take place in the first few days of your time at Peyto, prior to departure for the field.

Key Qualifications include the following:

· Actively enrolled in an undergraduate Bachelor of Science Engineering program with a minimum of 2nd year completed.

· Ability to collaborate and build strong working relationships with your team, peers and diverse business groups.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Strong time management skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
