Scope:

The Production Engineer will be responsible for all Production Engineering functions within the existing and future plays. This position reports to the VP Engineering and Operations and is based in the Calgary office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with Geoscience and Development act as a key advisor to management on all Production Engineering related technical issues.
  • Design and recommend artificial lift systems for Vesta’s Duvernay drilling program.
  • Review daily production and compile weekly production reports.
  • Work with the asset team members to set and monitor production targets while optimizing production and maximizing value within operating budgets. Lead the initiation and maintenance of the production forecasts for oil and liquids, water, and gas.
  • In collaboration with Operations and Planning, maintain the annual budget and forecasts for production and associated capital, tracking to monitor actual performance versus budget while communicating and managing risks, opportunities, and deviations to the plan.
  • Monitor overall asset performance on a production/cost basis while identifying opportunities for value optimization.
  • Work in partnership with Drilling & Completions to efficiently design and execute the Duvernay well operations in an efficient manner.
  • Work in partnership with Facilities to efficiently design and execute the equipping operations including wellsite design and infrastructure planning.
  • Identify and propose ways to improve NPV of the assets through collaboration with Drilling, Completions, Facilities, Production, Field Operations, Geoscientists, Joint Ventures and Marketing.
  • Work collaboratively, and take the lead when appropriate, with various technical and non-technical disciplines to ensure project proposals, reviews and recommendations yield maximum value.
  • Coordinate and participate in regular field, pad, and well reviews.
  • Maintain AER regulatory compliance and address all regulatory issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Undergraduate engineering degree.
  • APEGA licensed.

Experience:

  • 5+ years relevant experience in Production Engineering.
  • Combination of intermediate and junior operating oil & gas experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of geology, operations, production, wellbores, pipelines and facilities.
  • Familiarity in various software environments.
  • Working knowledge of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin and experience in light oil production operations.
