IROC Production Engineer
Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Production Engineer to join our team in Calgary. As part of the Integrated Remote Operations Center (IROC), you will play a pivotal role in Surveillance and advancing program initiatives. Reporting to the IROC Operations Supervisor, your primary responsibility will involve leading "Fast Loop" Production Engineering activities aimed at enhancing operational efficiencies, productivity, and safety through the strategic use of technology and data science.
Located within the Calgary Office, the IROC serves as the heart of our commitment to operational excellence, focusing on leveraging technological advancements to optimize our processes. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the other IROC team members, MRA (Maintenance, Reliability and Automation Team), Field Leadership, and Field Operations, contributing to our mission of improving safety and production across the board.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Production Engineering processes, an ability to review trends and data for making informed optimization recommendations, and a knack for monitoring and prioritizing multiple tasks effectively. A proactive approach to problem-solving, along with a dedication to collaborate and communicate with an Operations workforce, is essential. Your efforts will be crucial in identifying optimization opportunities and implementing strategies to maximize operational efficiency.
This position offers a 40-hour workweek, Monday to Friday, with a start time between 6:30-7:00 AM. Flexible working arrangements are available to promote work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain real-time/automated monitoring and surveillance systems, including contributing to the development of Ignition pages, operational envelopes, and SmartAlerts.
- Utilize and refine machine learning tools for operational excellence.
- Identification of real-time optimization opportunities within Ignition, SCADA and Tableau and working closely with Field Operations to execute changes.
- Conducting look backs that capture and track production enhancement and uptime results.
- Provide real-time support and troubleshooting for Field Operations, including the initiation of improvement projects and identification of well interventions.
- Foster collaboration across departments to ensure adherence to the highest safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Contribute to the expansion and adaptation of IROC initiatives across Canlin operations.
- Stay up to speed with technological advancements in the industry to continuously improve IROC operations.
- Engage with various teams to investigate and address root causes of operational issues.
- Support and contribute to routine well reviews.
- Attend and contribute to IROC Morning Meeting.
- Assist in the weekly production predictor process.
- Travel up to 20% of the time to work closely with IROC Operators.
Candidate Profile
- A minimum of seven years of Production Engineering experience in the oil & gas sector.
- In-depth knowledge of field operation processes, equipment maintenance practices, process safety, and safety instrumented systems.
- Expertise in well and compressor optimization techniques.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering - EIT or P. Eng required.
- Experience with Python, SQL, Tableau or any other relevant data science tools a significant benefit.
- Exceptional interpersonal, relational, and time management skills.
- Strong capabilities in technical writing and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in managing multiple priorities and problem-solving, both independently and within team environments.
- Effective communication skills for articulating complex technical issues to various teams and stakeholders.
- Advanced analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
- Experience with software systems including OpLYNX, Ignition, SCADA hosts, Geoscout, Producing Reporting (Avocet), Verdazo, Tableau.
