Who You Are: Ground Effects is looking for a Production Managerto join our growing organization in Windsor, ON. Production Manager manages the operations of all production areas to ensure that volume, cost, and quality standards are achieved. Plans and establishes work schedules, staffing requirements, and production sequences to maximize productivity and adhere to safety standards.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum Grade 12 education required; College or bachelor's degree Preferred.
- 5 years’ experience as a Production Manager in a manufacturing environment.
- Must be familiar with quality and automotive certification requirements and Health and Safety Legislation.
- Must have a strong technical background and have a general understanding of the function and operation of fabricating equipment.
- Must have blueprint reading knowledge.
- Must be team oriented and have excellent communication skills.
- Must have excellent organization skills.
- Strong Computer Skills
Job Description:
- Works directly with the Production Scheduler and Production Supervisors to ensure the manufacturing activities are set up and structured based on meeting customer releases so as to minimize inventory while providing the customer with prompt delivery.
- Customer release are derived from EDI transmissions or whichever transmission platform is used (ie. Excel sheets, email form etc)
- Maintain communication channels with direct reports so as to ensure efficient daily operations.
- When and where required, assist direct reports with attendance management, performance management and corrective action of production associates.
- Responsibilities to ensure the following:
- Ensure the orders are released in the chronological order (FIFO) unless circumstances dictate that the release date is overridden to comply with various customer needs.
- Ensure all work in process is properly tagged in accordance with procedures and instructions.
- Ensure properly maintained equipment and appropriate trained associates are available to carry out manufacturing activities.
- Ensure that external and internal safe operating principles are in place and adhered to. Comply with provisions of Safety Regulator Governing Bodies and take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of the worker.
- Be visible, assume leadership, assist in developing and initiating an effective health and safety attitude.
- Participate and initiate in continuous safety training.
- Oversee product handling to prevent damage and stored in designated areas.
- Per certified quality and automotive requirements, ensure that production floor is equipped with proper work instructions and procedures to carry out manufacturing activities.
- Provide input in continuous improvement and APQP meetings.
- Provide continuous review of departmental processes to improve overall efficiencies.
- Assist in the creation and implementation of quality control plans.
- Receive and review Shift reports from Production Supervisors and address areas of concern/problem.
- Review daily production entries from FX system orders to ensure accuracy.
- Review and disposition of nonconforming products and assist in providing solutions in prevent of their reoccurrence.
