Job Title: Production Manager
Classification: Exempt
Reports to: CEO
SUMMARY
Oversee the manufacture of intermodal chassis production within established production timelines and quality parameters. Ensure the precise execution of the parts department duties through the implementation of specified responsibilities. Function as primary liaison to CIE HQ as it pertains to personnel, inventory control and overall responsibility for the intermodal chassis production while coordinating with the local plant management team for seamless onsite production within the shared plant operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Follow directions as given by supervisor.
· Supervision of CIE Canada personnel, including fostering the individual development of job-specific knowledge and personal growth.
· Apply knowledge of production methods and procedures, product technology and capabilities of machines and equipment.
· Follow CIE production, inventory management and quality control standards. Identify quality control issues and suggest solutions.
· Plan and direct production activities based on production schedule provided by CIE HQ to obtain optimum cost-effective production and utilization of staffing, machines, and material.
· Develop and implement operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate production deficiency and improve product quality endorsed by CIE HQ.
· Offer suggestions/guidance to Engineering/QC department in problem solving manufacturing design of tools and/or methods to improve production and quality of products.
· Report plant KPIs as required.
· Comply with and enforce all CIE Safety compliance policies including OSHA safety standards and CEPA regulations.
· Adherence and enforcement of company policies in company handbook.
· Assist in maintaining the company's legal compliance as it pertains to labor and safety regulations.
· Communication/coordination with HQ Procurement team regarding maintenance of sufficient manufacturing parts and shop supplies.
· Maintains accurate inventory data and generates reports via CIE ERP system.
· Report any delays, accidents, or incidents to the CIE Safety Director and supervisor promptly.
· Uphold a clean and safe working environment.
· Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for Sarnia, Ontario Plant, Production, QC and Assembly.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s Degree.
· Proficiency in production management principles.
· Familiarity with quality standards and adherence to health and safety regulations.
· Understanding of performance evaluation methods.
· Hands-on experience in reporting on essential production metrics (KPI).
· Competence in utilizing MS Office and ERP software.
· Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
· Strong organizational and leadership skills.
· Keen attention to detail in all tasks.
· Demonstrated strong decision-making skills and a results-oriented mindset.
· Previous business experience is essential.
· Manufacturing experience is beneficial.
· Practical application of Lean or Six Sigma processes is advantageous.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Lifting: Ability to lift and move heavy chassis components or materials. Must be capable of lifting 15 pounds to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Standing/Walking: Extended periods of standing or walking on the manufacturing floor.
- Manual Dexterity: Precise handling of tools and equipment for assembling or manipulating chassis parts.
- Repetitive Motion: Performing repetitive tasks such as tightening bolts, fastening components, or other assembly line activities.
- Bending and Stooping: Required when inspecting, assembling, or working on lower parts of the chassis.
- Visual Acuity: Keen attention to detail for inspecting and identifying potential defects in chassis components.
- Safety Procedures: Strict adherence to safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and following established safety guidelines.
