Under the supervision of the Manager, the Production Planner will be responsible for coordinating end-to-end supply chain planning and production schedules to meet production goals. The Production Planner will use the ERP & MES system processes for part maintenance, production job creation and tracking, resource planning and management, inventory tracking, and process and workflow management.

The Production Planner is responsible for ensuring the productivity of utilized capacity and the efficiency of allocated labor toward meeting production Objectives & Results (OKRs).

This position will be based on-site at our Delta, BC, manufacturing facility.

DELTA, BC - On-site full-time in pre-fab facility

Education & Qualifications, Required:

  • Bachelor of Engineering, Technology, Science or related STEM degree
Nice to Haves, but can be certified on the job:
  • Graduate degree/diploma in operations management or supply chain management
  • Certified in production & Inventory Management (CPIM) certificate is an Asset from APICS or similar
  • Project Management Professional certification (PMP)
  • Level 1 or 2 Occupational First Aid certification
  • WHIMS

Skills & Experience, Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar planning role in a manufacturing/ construction management environment
  • Proficient in scheduling and planning large complex construction and/or manufacturing project timelines using MSProject or related software program.
  • Proficient in reading technical drawings/blueprints, specifications, bill of materials and CAD files.
  • Exposure to root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action (CAPA) techniques
  • Proficient in using ERP systems
  • Knowledge of process related standards, good reasoning and problem-solving abilities
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations
  • Proficient in MS Office software products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
Nice to Have:
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and the proper implementation of industry practices in manufacturing
  • Understanding of timber construction and related techniques/ processes
  • Basic Fabrication, carpentry, machining and assembly skills
  • Experience with EPICOR ERP system

The Role & Responsibilities - Production Planner:

  • Create and/or organize production schedule and prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly Rough-Cut-Capacity Planning.
  • Generate production work orders and level load production to optimize lines’ efficiency and mitigate production constraints.
  • Participate in process design and review to optimize flow of information, materials and products, and look for ways to improve process and efficiencies.
  • Working closely with building systems and project management group to determine appropriate production schedules that best meet customer delivery requirements.
  • Make sure job traveler, work aids and weekly schedules are available to operations team members in a timely fashion and that any deviations in the project schedule are accounted for always.
  • Ensure that every employee involved in the production process has a clear understanding of what is required to meet the order and needs of customer projects.
  • Review production exception reports daily, mitigate production constraints, and prioritize efforts where needed.
  • Improve capacity utilization by removing bottlenecks and optimizing constraints.
  • Rectify and/or reconcile differences and inaccuracies that have to do with shipment and deliveries to customers.

Production control:
  • Monitor labor entries to ensure the correct amount is charged to each job by each production associate. Promptly correct any discrepancies in labor entries and coordinate corrective action with the production foreman.
  • Coordinate and oversee the progress of jobs with production foreman and team leaders to make sure bill of operations are completed on time and report weekly/ monthly on the status and shortages (materials and resources) to the Manager
  • Reconcile any Bill of Material discrepancies as reported by production staff and make adjustments prior to job closure and communicate to building systems and supply chain teams

Material Resource Planning (MRP):
  • Coordinate with the supply chain team to ensure the availability of materials supports production requirements.
  • Receive inputs from production teams on consumables consumption towards production jobs and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including identifying opportunities to forecast demand, prevent stock-outs and reduce overall inventory

Other Duties:
  • Communicate with other manufacturing team members to ensure production goals and quality standards are met.

  • Comply with all health and safety rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Comply with our administrative policies and procedures as set forth from time to time.
  • Complete other duties as we may request that are consistent with your abilities and responsibilities
