LOCATION: St Albert, AB, CAN
SHIFT: Monday – Friday 7am – 3:30pm. (Please note that the plant is currently going through a ramp-up and high volume orders. This means this particular candidate must be open to working overtime – extended work hours or working on days off)
PAY: Starting pay is $40/hour
Travel Requirements: 1% for training purposes in the United States as well as Canada.
SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:
Maintain/develop optimal extrusion process parameters, tooling management, production trials, and training documents/videos/troubleshooting guides, testing for meeting safety, quality and production goals. Monitor and operate production line controls, color/product change-overs, troubleshooting, equipment adjustments and maintaining documentation, and Tier 1 meetings to meet OEE goals for production.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with line productivity based on speeds and demands, including setting standards and helping train team members.
- Ability to organize and support multiple priorities and projects.
- Follows all safety requirements for the position and all company safety procedures.
- Performs routine, basic maintenance on equipment; for example, replacement of heater bands, clean vacuum tank filters, etc.
- Responsible for determination of 5S standards and on-going revision for production and verification all shifts are meeting the Housekeeping Score Target.
- Perform and record measurements for trials for new products and determination of optimal process parameter settings and creation/management of Visual Setup Sheets.
- Management of extrusion tooling (organization, manage process from removal at line through clean and review condition of tooling and determination of replacement of tooling, etc.,).
- Verifying maintenance work orders are put into MII in a timely manner and notification / follow up with maintenance.
- Performs any other duties as assigned by Plant Management.
- Step in and assume the responsibilities of Production Supervisor when necessary e.g. when Supervisor is on vacation.
- Creation/management of production training videos, troubleshooting guides, job instructions, form, and testing. Responsible for training all production employees on requirements per training matrix. Assists with extrusion line start-ups and changeovers, monitors and troubleshoots extrusion processes, maintain the required documentation and records.
- Make decisions regarding equipment adjustments needed to maintain product quality and production efficiencies.
- On-going daily management on Tier 1 OEE Production Boards including making sure all necessary persons are trained and verifying that board is being completed accurately and timely.
EDUCATIONAL AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Reading, writing, and mathematical competency testing required
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in plastic extrusion manufacturing and other related products and processes.
- Proficient skills with Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
- High mechanical aptitude: the ability to learn about machinery, equipment, and apply such knowledge appropriately.
- Firm understanding of instrumentation: the use of measuring instruments for observation, monitoring, or control.
- Experience with operations monitoring:watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure machinery is working to full capacity and efficiency.
- Demonstrated analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to verbally communicate, read and write in the English language.
- Experience in working with ERP and MRP systems (SAP).
OCCUPATIONAL AND/OR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift 50 pounds with or without assistance
- Able to bend, stoop, kneel, twist at wait and climb.
- Able to hear equipment, view and discern defective product, and sense temperature changes in the finished product
- Ability to move from one area of plant to another
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Manufacturing floor environment with hot extrusion process equipment
- Safety shoes and safety glasses required
