REPORTS TO: Production Team Leader

SALARY RANGE: $19.50-$22.75/Hour

HOURS: 42.5 hours weekly (4:00pm-1:00am, includes banking time, M-F)

SUMMARY: Performs production related duties and assists the Production Team Leader in successfully completing work orders. Reports issues and makes suggestions for more efficient production techniques. Contributes to the overall success and positive atmosphere of the company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Completes work as assigned by the Production Team Leader in an efficient manner.
  • Completes daily production records accurately.
  • Follows the instructions provided by the Production Team Leader regarding the operating instructions and safety features for the equipment to which they are assigned.
  • Assists the Production Team Leader with the general care of the equipment including but not limited to: cleaning, oiling and reporting malfunctions once authorized to perform such duties.
  • Obeys all safety rules and regulations. Wears Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as per company policies and procedures.
  • Follows the production schedule as directed by their Team Leader. Asks questions as appropriate; does not produce incorrect or non- conforming product.
  • Keeps the Production Team Leader informed of any deviations from their established production schedules.
  • Attends & participates in daily team huddles
  • Strives to achieve production quota’s as outlined by the company.
  • Ensures that their workstation is free of debris. Checks with Production Team Leader prior to discarding scrap. Places debris in proper receptacles.
  • Does not leave for the day until waste is properly disposed of and work area tidied during clean up period at end of the day.
  • Knows how to properly use hand and shop tools, safely, properly and without damage.
  • Responsible for the security of company owned tools and materials. When not in use, these items must be stored or secured according to toolbox procedures.
  • Ensures that non-productive time is minimized and asks for additional work if their task is completed. Ensures that work time remains free of distractions.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and moving product.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds frequently & repetitively (includes low-level, waist level and above shoulder lifting).
  • Ability to carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Excellent eyesight and depth perception. Prescription eye correction is mandatory for those who require it.
  • Able to remain in a stationary position for up to 8 hours (sitting or standing).
  • Walking short distances.
  • Use of dominant & non-dominant hands with forceful gripping.


ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Display appropriate work ethics in the workplace and group settings which provides a positive influence on company workers.
  • Begins production on time and does not leave their station unless authorized to do so by the Production Team Leader.
  • Promptly reports to the Production Team Leader any personal conflicts, which may arise between peers affecting work.
  • Follows all company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for informing the Production Team Leader in advance of any absence, late arrival or early departure.
  • Responsible accurately recording hours worked. Punches in and out whenever leaving the premises. No employee should be clocked in when not actively working.
  • Responsible for maintaining daily production and scrap reports and submitting to Team Leader (daily).
  • Works as part of a team to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Willing to be cross trained and move to other areas when needed.
  • Performs any other duties and tasks as assigned Production Team Leader/Supervisor/Manager.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to seasonal temperature changes.
  • Exposure to loud/noisy environment.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to include but not limited to, safety glasses, steel toe foot protection, hearing protection, Kevlar sleeves and hard hats.
  • Jewellery and loose-fitting clothes not permitted.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Must possess an education or experience level that permits the Team Member to effectively communicate and perform duties/responsibilities.
  • Occupational Health and Safety Awareness Training for Workers.
  • Respect in the Workplace Training.
  • Safe Lifting Training.
  • The Right to Refuse Unsafe Work Training.
  • WHMIS 2015 including the GHS for Workers and Supervisors – All Jurisdictions.
  • Workplace Violence and Harassment Training for Employees (Alberta).

  • Operates various production machines including: Dimpler / Clincher, Riveter, Spot welder, Wire Stapler, Power Tube Roller, Strapper Nylon, Shrink Wrapper, Small Press brake, Colatch Manual (8" and under), Roll Former, Colatch Auto, West Pre-Assembly, Boot Production, Takeoffs 3-6”, Auto Elbow 3-6”, Auto Elbow 7-16”, UTO 4-6”, Horizontal Crimper, SAFAN Press Brake, P2XE Panel Bender, Vertical Rotary Crimper, Punch Press, Hoods, Circle Shear, Gorelocker, Flanger Tube Spinner, Hydraulic Baler, Top Clamp-Press, CU-25 Tennsmith Shear, Cheek Bender, Duct Beader, Tube-a-Matic, SEYI-coil line, Snaplock Pipe, Foot Shear, Easy Former, Residential Fitting PRE Assembly, Gang Punch, Lock Former (Take offs), Auto Elbow 10-18", Auto Elbow 4-8”, CAB Combustion Air Bucket, End Caps, Plugs, Reducer Increaser, Bar folder, Boot Hemmer.
  • CSA approved Steel toe boots/shoes
  • Hard Hat
  • All PPE to be kept in good repair at all times (replacements requested as required).


KNOWLEDGE

  • Hand tools and production machinery
  • General Safety polices & procedures.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Oral comprehension and expression; Must speak, read and write in English equivalent to the OECD Level 2 or higher.


MATHMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical equations with precision and accuracy (basic addition, subtraction equations, count, weigh & measure). Numeracy skills equivalent to the OECD Level 2 or higher.
  • Accurately read a tape measure.


OTHER SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Entry level Computer skills
