TITLE: Program Director
DEPARTMENT: YWCA Lethbridge & District, Administration
HOURS: 40 Hours per week. Flexibility is required based on program needs.
REPORTING LINE: Reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer
POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
a) Report regularly to the Chief Executive Officer on all operational functions.
b) Responsible for the direct supervision and oversight of the Program Managers of the following departments: Amethyst, Harbour House, Harbour House Support Services, Hestia Homes, Permanent Supportive Housing Women’s Residence, Child Care, Safe Visitation.
c) To provide support and evaluative feedback to the managers.
1. Agency:
a) To perform related assignments as assigned by the CEO.
b) To act as ambassador for the YWCA when representing the Association.
c) To establish and maintain liaison with community agencies.
d) To assist clients in development of self-reliance and stabilization.
2. Program
a) Excellent management skills with the ability to motivate and enhance cooperation in team building among staff and volunteers.
b) Solid understanding of all funded program contracts.
c) Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to operate within an open style of management with the CEO.
d) Demonstrate program development skills with the ability to work within operational policies and procedures.
e) Good counselling skills with an understanding of human behavior in the workplace.
f) Solid organizational skills with the ability to direct and supervise the work of others and set priorities in their workloads.
g) Good practical knowledge of the dynamics of abuse, impact of abuse on women and children, power, and control issues.
h) Knowledge and skill in the area of family violence and crisis intervention.
i) Ability to mentor others and resolve conflict, de-escalate situations, and provide stability.
j) Extensive knowledge of community resources and ability to advocate in a professional and effective manner while facilitating good working relationships with other agencies and community.
k) Ability to recognize and deal positively with personal and work-related stress.
QUALIFICATIONS:
a) Bachelor’s degree or equivalent post-secondary education in a related Human Services field
b) Minimum 4 or 5 years supervisory and direct service experience with client advocacy, report writing, program development.
c) Criminal Record Check
d) Child and Youth Intervention Record Check
e) Standard First Aid Level C with AED
f) Knowledge of the Harm Reduction Model
g) Knowledge of the Housing First Philosophy
h) Knowledge of the Trauma- Informed Care and Person-Centered Care
SALARY:
Range $80,000-$90,000 per year
