About Student Housing Nova Scotia
Beginning in 1965 as the Halifax Student Housing Society, we have recently announced our new strategic direction and are expanding our mission to create, provide, and advocate for student housing across the province. With this renewed mandate, we are in the process of rebranding ourselves to become Student Housing Nova Scotia. We will be expanding our reach as we continue to develop, operate, and advocate for student housing that is affordable, accessible, comfortable, reliable, sustainable, and meets the needs of students across Nova Scotia. As we move forward in this exciting period of growth, we are looking to introduce new ideas and team members to help shape our organization as we expand and grow.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Project Coordinator will play a key role in our expansion and capacity building efforts as part of our new province-wide strategic direction. They will do this by supporting, facilitating, and eventually leading projects and initiatives. The Project Coordinator will be a key member of our team, and play an active role in our provincial roleout and with the selection and design of a new head office space. They will also perform activities such as:
- Supporting planning, development, and implementation of projects and initiatives.
- Researching and analyzing data, trends, and topics related to student housing.
- Writing and assisting with reports, proposals, and assessments.
- Providing support to staff as needed, including general administrative tasks.
We have a variety of available projects and initiatives. These will be assigned based on the individual’s interest, skills, and experience. Some of these project areas may include:
- Real estate and housing development
- Policy and program development
- Strategy and planning
- Marketing, branding, and communications
- Fundraising campaigns and event planning
- Website and graphic design
- Organizational design and change management
- Research and analysis
Qualifications
Please note: This position is partially funded under a provincial government program which requires that all candidates must be a student studying at a Nova Scotia university or the Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC).
The following additional qualifications are not required, but will be considered beneficial:
- Experience, knowledge, or education relating to any of the potential project areas.
- Excellent writing, analytical, organizational, and oral communication skills.
- Past experience or involvement with student unions/associations.
- Experience coordinating, supporting, or managing projects and initiatives.
- Experience with marketing, communications, or social media campaigns.
- Experience writing assessments or reports.

- Start and end dates, as well as the distribution of hours over the course of the contract, may be flexible at the discretion of the employer and the successful candidate.
- While the role is expected to primarily work in our office, some hybrid or remote work may be possible at the discretion of the employer.
