About the Organization
The Nunavut Housing Corporation is an agency of the Government of Nunavut that serves the housing needs of one of the fastest-growing and youngest populations in Canada. NHC’s mandate is to create, coordinate, and administer housing programs in order to provide fair access to a range of affordable housing options to families and individuals in Nunavut. NHC has recently launched The Nunavut 3000 Strategy, (www.igluliuqatigiingniq.ca) which is a collaboration between the government and its partners to deliver 3,000 new units across the housing continuum by 2030.
About the Opportunity
Currently, we have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Project Managerto join our team in Iqaluit, Nunavut.
In this pivotal role, reporting to the Director, Project Management and Capital Development, you will be instrumental in all stages of the project implementation process. Your duties span from supporting cross-department initiatives on small-scale projects to providing essential project management and controls to ensure the successful implementation of large-scale capital initiatives.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Devising and overseeing the implementation of projects and their respective teams to ensure seamless coordination
- Collaborating with and reporting to all stakeholders and team members, ensuring continuous and clear communication
- Ensuring projects are completed within the specified scope, schedule, and budget
- Preparing and coordinating Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Tenders (RFTs), evaluations
- Executing contracts through the tendering process with NHC Procurement
- Collecting and analyzing data on the community, the proposed construction site, and pertinent information available from other projects
- Supporting NHC capital planning and land acquisition process to ensure land is available for future builds
About You
To be considered for this role, you should possess a technology diploma in Engineering, Architecture, Project Management or other related fields, plus five years of project management experience.
Your candidacy will be strengthened by qualifications such as:
- A professional accreditation in project management, engineering, or architecture (asset)
- A degree in Engineering, Architecture, Project Management or another related field (asset)
- Work experience using Project Management Information System software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite or Experience working with Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, is essential
Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages — Inuktut, English, and French — is highly desirable. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut, and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also valued assets for this position. Willingness to travel as per business needs is required.
