Wastewater Collection Maintenance Worker - Public Works - Full-time Unionized Position

About the role: Performs a variety of semi-skilled labour activities to maintain the Municipality’s sewer systems, streets, sidewalks, buildings, and green spaces, including winter operations. Responsible for safely operating all heavy equipment and vehicles associated with the construction and maintenance operations within Public Works.
Salary Range: $26.79 per hour

Education & experience required:
· Completion of grade 12 education or GED equivalent.
· Experience and demonstrated ability in operating heavy equipment and machinery to include snowplows, sidewalk plows, mini excavator, and mowing equipment.
· Experience in concrete forming and pouring, and finishing, an asset.
· Experience in the maintenance and construction procedures of a sewer system, an asset.
· Ability to obtain Wastewater Collection Certification Class 2 within 5 years.
· Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, relevant to the provisions that apply to this work.
· Class 3 Nova Scotia Drivers’ License with Air Brake endorsement preferred. Class 5 may be considered. Clear Driver’s abstract
· Successful completion of medical and vision examinations. Willing to undergo hepatitis vaccination is a condition of employment.
