Aspen Planers Ltd. is a producer of SPF dimension lumber. Our commitment to the forest industry and our people continues. We are currently seeking a qualified individual to join our team at our Merritt Sawmill operation.
Position Overview: As a Purchasing Agent, you will play a crucial role in our operations by managing daily purchasing activities, from sourcing quotes to receiving goods. In addition to procurement tasks, you will also be responsible for some maintenance clerk work, ensuring accurate record-keeping and documentation. You will report directly to the Mill Manager and collaborate closely with our Corporate Purchasing Manager to maintain efficient supply chain operations.
Responsibilities:
- Source and obtain competitive quotes for required materials and services
- Negotiate pricing with suppliers to ensure cost-effectiveness
- Process purchase orders and coordinate with vendors for timely delivery
- Maintain accurate records of purchases and deliveries
- Handle any discrepancies or issues with orders in a timely manner
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to forecast and plan procurement needs
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimize purchasing processes
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing or procurement roles
- Experience in a heavy industrial setting is considered an asset
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Proficiency in MS Office suite and familiarity with purchasing software
- Supply chain management certification is an asset but not mandatory
Location: This is an onsite position located in Merritt, BC. Candidates must be willing to work in this location.

Salary: $52,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
