Job description

The Quality Assurance Manager ensures all materials including finished products are safe and conform to all relevant specifications, legislation and customer requirements. They are responsible for the management of Quality Assurance functions and supervision of Quality Assurance Technicians.
Key interface with regulatory agencies, third party and customers. Identifies and reports key quality issues and leads continuous quality improvement.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Ensure the facility delivers the required standards of food safety according to both Northsyde Processing Ltd. and Regulatory policies, procedures, and practices

· Develop, maintain and verify HACCP Plans

· Accountable for CFIA Regulatory and BRC Food Safety requirements

· Collect and interpret microbiology analysis results

· Manage quality issues throughout the plant; troubleshooting, root cause analysis, corrective and preventative actions.

· Provide support and assistance to the sanitation team to ensure continuous improvement and high quality.

· Draft, maintain and train employees on SOPs

· Train and coach employees to ensure high GMP performance standards are met

· Investigate, address and respond to all customer complaints

· Lead regulatory, third party and customer audits, address and respond to NCRs identified.

· Achieve the quality, safety, compliance and operational goals of the company.

· Ensure all suppliers of goods are pre-approved prior to purchase of goods and services.

· Develop and mentor a strong quality team.

· Manage facility inspections, traceability, testing, vendor auditing, allergen and microbial program compliance

· Attend and lead management meetings and track action items.

· Establish and maintain a positive food safety and quality culture within the business

· Work collaboratively across all necessary functions to ensure adherence to established programs and practices

· Ensure that critical process points and records are audited to determine if they are in control and meet specifications.

REQUIRED:

· Bachelor’s degree in food science or related field

· Preferred Experience in the food manufacturing industry in a Food Safety/Quality role.

· HACCP Certification and experience

· Effective oral and written communication skills as well as effective interpersonal skills in dealing with conflict and change.

· Must be efficient in Microsoft Programs; Word, and Excel

PREFERRED:

· BRC training and experience

· Be flexible and able to multi-task

· Have a working knowledge of seafood regulatory requirements

· Experience in Seafood Industry
