Job Summary:

The QA Specialist will report to and assist the Quality Assurance Manager/Quality Assurance Person (QAP) to ensure compliance with all aspects of the Cannabis Regulations, Good Production Practices (GPP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Good Documentation Practices (GDP) regulations as required by Health Canada and our corporate contractual obligations.

Responsibilities:

  • Write, revise and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and associated documents to ensure continuous compliance with the Cannabis Regulations, Good Production Practices, Good Documentation Practices, Internal standards, Customer requirements.

· Assists the Quality Assurance Person and QA Manager in managing the Quality Management System.

· Support product and procedural development and actively participate in performing validation protocols.

·Provide support for equipment/process optimization, calibration, process validation, qualification or certification

· Conduct Quality checks/ inspections all stages of production.

  • Perform daily pre-operational checks and cleaning verification on equipment, production rooms.
  • Maintain calibration records of different equipment.

· Perform inspection of incoming materials.

· Collecting retention samples and testing samples out for third party testing and maintain samples log.

  • Monitor and ensure facility employee following Good Production Practices and Good Documentation Practices.
  • Perform Quality investigations on product and product hold when needed.
  • Ensure that documentation, complaints, deviations, non-conformances, investigations, corrective, and preventative actions, and change control are performed according to quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in generating and updating methods and procedures (SOPs) related to QA, production, equipment, packaging, labeling and storage and distribution of cannabis.
  • Ensures accurate record keeping and filing as per organizational procedures.
  • Support completion and review production batch records on a daily basis.
  • Generation and maintenance of Preventive Controls Plans (PCP) to ensure that the Operation meets Regulatory and Product safety requirements.
  • Monitor process control points and take measures to eliminate deviations.

· Perform data trending and statistical analysis.

· Submit/ Complete change control requests when necessary, generate deviation reports, assist in investigation and provide recommendation for corrective actions.

  • Recommend and assist in the implementation of ongoing process improvements.
  • Complete all other tasks related to the position, as assigned by the Quality Manager.

Requirements:

· A B.Sc. degree or equivalent in an applicable discipline of science (chemistry, biochemistry, medicine or related), Chemical Engineering, or a related field.

· Knowledge of cannabis extraction processes and cannabis quality metrics is considered an asset

· Experience in GMP/ GPP environment as pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, food, or related industry is required.

· Proven track record of success in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

· High attention to detail and processes

· Able to work individually or as part of a team

· Able to multi-task efficiently

· Excellent organizational skills

· Health Canada security clearance is a strong asset.
