Quality Assurance Specialist

Wilton Cheese, a division of A.M. Jensen Limited, is a family-run business operating in Eastern Ontario with a second location in Southwestern Ontario that operates under the name of Jensen Cheese. We are currently seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist. Reporting directly to the President, the Quality Assurance Specialist will manage the compliance of both of our locations to all Canadian Food Safety regulations. The Quality Assurance Specialist will ensure that the company maintains the highest standards of food and safety product quality.

While this position will be primarily located at the plant in Odessa, ON; however, the successful candidate must be able to travel to our Simcoe, ON location at least once per business quarter. This is a full-time position, working Monday through Friday; the salary range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00 per hour (with performance-based salary increases) as well, we offer a comprehensive benefits package.

In this role you will be responsible for:

· Maintaining the HACCP System, continually reassessing the HACCP System and related SOPs to ensure they reflect the current activities in our facilities

· Conducting shelf-life studies on finished products

· Ensuring that current activities are meeting the requirements of the HACCP System and SOPs as written (daily/weekly/monthly)

· Conducting on-site assessments as required by Prerequisite Program

· Maintaining and updating required programs including but not limited to: sanitation program, supplier program, environmental monitoring program, pest control, allergen control

· Analyzing processes, identifying trends and anomalies, and continuously evaluating plant programs to identify areas for improvement

· Ensuring all food safety-related documents and records are controlled and that current issues are in use

· Reviewing all Critical Control Point monitoring and verification records to ensure compliance with HACCP critical limits and frequencies, as required by the HACCP System

· Keeping up to date of current food safety laws and regulations

· Reviewing and evaluating all records for accuracy and completeness as well as determining any need for process improvement

· Monitoring HACCP and PRPs to ensure all procedures are properly carried out

· Performing mock recalls

· Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

· Post secondary diploma/degree in Food Safety, Food Science or a related field

· Proven experience as a Quality Specialist

· Experience in Food Safety analysis, and reporting.

· Familiarity with supply chain processes (e.g., manufacturing, inventory planning, warehouse management)

· Analytical mind with business acumen

· Problem-solving aptitude with excellent communication and leadership skills

· Outstanding organizational abilities
