Reactor Component Quality Assurance Specialist (Temp)

Position and Responsibilities
This position is a one-year contract position. As a member of the Reactor Components Quality Assurance team and reporting to the Cobourg Quality Assurance Superintendent, this position provides the customer with objective evidence that the product requirements are met through effective quality planning, improvement, evaluation, and prevention and assures the deployment of quality function in all aspects of the product manufacturing cycle through departmental assurance activities.
Performance Expectations
- Provide a means of communications directly with the customer to develop and supply a product which meets or exceeds the customer requirements.
- Assist Quality Superintendent in establishing, implementing, and maintaining the quality management system.
- Responsible for continual improvement activities to enhance the quality system.
- Interface with Engineering and Operations to ensure products are in accordance with approved data.
- Support the Quality Verification Inspectors to ensure that products and processes comply with requirements of the quality management system.
- Conduct or participate in internal/external audits, including closing out audit findings, creating audits finding reports.
- Root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action for process related concerns.
- Determine failure, corrective and preventive action to respond to customer complaints and ensure timely resolution of supplier failure, corrective actions and preventive actions.
- Create and maintain company quality documentation, such as quality manuals, quality procedures, etc.
- Responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the overall activities of receiving and outgoing quality functions.
- Manage supplier selection, document approvals, and assist with reports regarding suppliers’ performance.
- Write Quality Assurance reports that describe manufacturing problems, corrective actions taken, and preventative measures needed.
- Ability to make presentations to management, customers, or suppliers during meetings.
- Assess suitability of candidates for specific positions.
- Maintain the liaison with the Customer’s Quality Assurance Representatives (QAR’s) and TSSA Authorized Nuclear Inspector (ANI).
- Review non-conforming items and review, recommend, and accept dispositions in accordance with contract requirements. Request ANI review and acceptance of dispositions before commencing repairs that involve welding of the pressure boundary.
- Schedule inspection and testing activities and inform the ANI and/or Customer's Quality Surveillance Representative (QSR) as defined in the Manufacturing and Quality Plan / Control Plan.
- Prepare / initiate Certificate of Compliance or Certified Material Test Report as appropriate for QA Specialist approval and ANI review.
- Guide and co-ordinate project teams which include other engineers, technologists, clients and contractors when designing, developing and building products or facilities.
- Identify, develop, and qualify inspection equipment.
Education and Qualifications
Requirements of the position:
- Post-secondary technical degree/diploma specializing in Engineering or related fields.
- 3 - 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment in a Quality Engineering role.
- Strong written, verbal, and proficient in MS Office.
- Experience with APQP: Process Control Plans, PFMEA, and Metrology.
Assets:
- Previous experience with History Docket/File creation.
- Working knowledge of ASTM, CSA N285, CSA N299, and ASME codes and standards.
