A specialist position that combines knowledge of financial markets and quantitative investing with data and technology skills. The role will be responsible for a number of investment-related activities, from basic investment performance and risk reporting to implementing advanced data science models in our quantitative investment platform. The role will be responsible for working with portfolio management teams to test and integrate advanced quantitative and quantifundamental strategies into existing portfolios, while also managing performance attribution and investment risk reporting. The ideal candidate will be collaborative and sociable and will work with data engineers to set up analytics, as well as front office investment staff to implement quantitative strategies.

• Uses machine learning methods to create and test new quantitative signals for investment teams.
• Works with portfolio management teams to implement new quantitative methods.
• Work with data engineers and business analysts to create data pipeline and analytics tables.
• Responsible for performance attribution and investment risk reporting.
• Uses data mining and extracting usable data from valuable data sources to assess feasibility of AI/ML solutions for improved processing and usage of organization data.
• Conducts large-scale analysis of information to discover patterns and trends by combining different modules and algorithms.
• Uses analysis to provide recommendations and advice for business leaders to maintain to maintain market competitiveness.
• Develops prediction systems and machine learning algorithms. Investigates additional technologies and tools for developing innovative data solutions for business stakeholders.
• Communicates abstract concepts in simple terms.
• Fosters strong internal and external networks and works with and across multiple teams to achieve business objectives.
• Anticipates trends and responds by implementing appropriate changes.
• Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

Expert level of proficiency:

• SQL, Python/R/SAS, and visualization (e.g., PowerBI) skills are essential
• Knowledge and experience in capital markets are essential
• Investment designation preferred
• Experience in quantitative investing
• Knowledge of investment performance and investment risk strongly preferred
• Data analytics and machine learning skills are essential
• Collaboration & team skills; with a focus on cross-group collaboration
• Typically 5+ years of relevant experience and/or certification in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• CFA or M.Sc or Ph.D. in relevant field preferred
• Seasoned expert with extensive industry knowledge
• Technical leader viewed as a thought leader for innovation

$100,800.00 - $187,200.00Salaried

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.
