Receiving & Delivery

Ottawa’s leading kitchen & bathroom design and renovation company has a unique opportunity for a self-motivated, experienced individual to assume responsibilities for Receiving & Delivery. This important position reports directly to the Production Manager. The employee is responsible for receiving customer products from suppliers and delivering them to customer’s homes. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Receiving:

Ensure that products are received in good order, are inspected and accounted for, tagged, and stored in an organized and safe manner in the shop before delivery to the job site. Specific responsibilities include the following:

  • Check all products received for damages and deficiencies, noting them directly on the accompanying receiving slips and shipping orders. To the extent possible, ensure shippers are advised of problems before they leave and secure their signatures for damaged and deficient shipments;
  • Check products received against the packing slip that accompanies the shipment and the Company purchase order issued for those products. Deficiencies, shortages or any differences between the product received and the product ordered must be noted and reported immediately to the Administrative Manager. Any corrective action required must be initiated on a priority basis;
  • Ensure products are stored in an orderly manner and protected from possible damage or loss. Products should be grouped and staged by job and marked according to the job name and/or number. Maintain the shop in a clean, safe, and organized manner.

Pick-ups & Deliveries

In consultation with the Production Manager, coordinate the timely and efficient delivery of fixtures, cabinets and materials to the job site or to retail customers who have paid for delivery. Specific activities include:

  • Product Deliveries: Ensure fixtures, cabinets, and materials are delivered to job sites and/or to retail customers in a timely and safe manner. Where products are delivered to a renovation job site, ensure they are stored in a safe secure location and that our installers are aware that the product has been delivered in a complete and undamaged condition;
  • Local Pick-ups: Pick up products and/or materials from local suppliers according to company purchase orders and/or specifications and instructions as noted in the customers’ contracts. Inspect products for correct specifications, quantities, damage, model numbers, finishes, etc to verify we are picking up what was ordered for specific projects and/or customers. Deliver the products to either the shop or to customers’ homes;
  • Retail Deliveries: Ensure that products are delivered to the customer in a safe and orderly manner and that the customers sign for the receipt of their product(s) in a complete and undamaged condition. Ensure payment is/has been received at the time of delivery.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Report anything unusual observed on the job site to the Operations Manager;
  • When asked to do so, receive customer payments and return them to the office for deposit;
  • Assist in the set-up of showroom displays including assembly and set-up of new products for display and perform general maintenance duties in the showroom and common areas as required.
  • Protect, operate, and maintain the Company’s cube van according to the Company’s policies for the care and operation of motor vehicles including secure overnight parking, proper maintenance and cleanliness of the vehicle, proper and safe operation of the vehicle on public highways, and adherence to the rules of the road.

Candidate Credentials:

The chosen candidate for this position will possess the following skill sets:

  • Be a self-starting, self-motivating individual as evidenced by not waiting to be told what needs to be done but rather seeing what needs to be done and planning their day accordingly;
  • Organizes and plans to make their day efficient and effective;
  • Has a current Ontario driver's license with a clean driving record for the last five (5) years and has experience in driving a ¾ ton-size cube van in urban settings for at least one year;
  • Has a positive attitude and willingness to take on new challenges and to develop new skills;
  • Is a Team Player with strong interpersonal skills;
  • Previous experience in conducting residential renovations is considered a strong asset.

The right candidate MUST possess a demonstrated physical ability to manage the movement of heavy products and materials in a warehouse environment, including the loading and unloading of trucks.

Salary: $21.00 (under review) an hour, 40 hours a week with mandatory enrollment in the company benefit plan after 3 months.
