Recreation Facility Attendant

The HJSC (Harry Jerome Sports Center) / Volleyball BC is accepting applications for Recreation Facility Attendants.

These positions are ideal for post-secondary students looking for regular weekly shifts that complement their class schedule. SFU Burnaby, Douglas, Capilano, BCIT Students

Typical shifts are:
Weeknights (Mon-Fri) from 3-11pm
Weekends (Sat & Sun) from 7am-3pm and 3-11pm

A regular weekly schedule is set at the beginning of each term/ season.
The upcoming Fall season runs Labour Day through December.
Shifts continue into the Winter season - schedule is adjusted based on staff availability and school schedules.
Staff are expected to cover their set/ weekly shifts throughout each Season and may switch/cover nights as needed for flexibility.

We are currently looking to fill weeknight shifts (Mon-Fri).

Responsibilities
Working in pairs and reporting to the Facility Manager, primary responsibilities of the position include maintaining facility operations, janitorial duties, league and event delivery, and customer service.

Responsibilities may also include:
Providing assistance and customer service to facility patrons
Assisting with VBC leagues - collecting scores, interacting with teams, conflict resolution
Front desk responsibilities – organizing facility rental groups
General and nightly cleaning including bathrooms
Ensuring site safety and security
Facility opening/ closing duties
Assisting VBC staff with various projects as required
Completing financial transactions
Providing general first aid attention and related paperwork
Other responsibilities as assigned by the Facility Manager

This position requires individuals who are able to work with minimal supervision and demonstrate problem solving and conflict resolution skills

Qualifications
Reliable - must be able and willing cover your shift(s) each week for the term
Friendly - superior customer service skills as you represent Volleyball BC
Familiarity with sport, tournaments and event draws an asset
Standard First Aid Certification an asset
Access to reliable transportation an asset. (HJSC is on a bus route with stops directly outside but schedules vary)

Wage - $20/hr (hourly position)
