Responsibilities
Tasks
- Conduct initial dental assessments and consult with dentists on patient care
- Instruct patients regarding oral hygiene
- Clean and stimulate the gums to prevent gum disease
- Apply fluoride treatment
- Remove stains and deposits from teeth
- Take, develop and mount X-rays
- Educate patients concerning oral hygiene
Credentials
Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses
- Dental Hygienists Licensure by the appropriate provincial or territorial governing body
- Membership with the Ordre des hygiénistes dentaires du Québec
