Job description

Creekside Landing is a unique campus of care that offers aging couples, seniors, and friends — whose individual care needs differ greatly — the ability to continue to live together in proximity. The campus includes, 38 assisted living suites and 70 complex care beds providing a safe, supportive home and 24-hour nursing care for seniors who can no longer live independently, whether due to physical or cognitive issues.

We have expanded our Creekside Landing location in Vernon to include the newly constructed Osprey Court, opening in February and located just a hop, skip and jump (literally!) over Vernon Creek. This new, state of the art, modern facility will be residence to 96 seniors. We are looking for an energetic, passionate Rehab Assistant to work with the OT/PT, Recreation and interdisciplinary team assisting with implementing programs designed to meet the social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs of our residents in order to improve their quality of life.

You can work independently as well as take direction, be flexible, and be able to demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills.

Your communication skills are solid; able to effectively share and receive information both verbally and in writing.

You are passionate about resident care and will go that extra mile to put a smile on our residents faces.

What You Will Do

  • Provide support, individualized care and assessment to our residents through meaningful and effective treatment.
  • Assess the physical and cognitive status of residents in order to implement and evaluate the identified rehabilitation programs for each Resident.
  • Operate/manage equipment related to resident service and care provision such as but not limited to ambulatory aides, seating devices, splits, etc.
  • Perform a range of therapies such as walking exercises; range of motion and strengthening exercises; and recreational programs in a safe, appropriate and ethical manner.
  • Set up, facilitate, and clear recreation programs, including, but not limited to: Bingo, Special Events, Chair Exercises and more. Working either independently, or as a team.
  • Conduct 1 to 1’s with residents.

Your Qualifications – The Must Have’s

  • Diploma or degree from a recognized Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant Program is required
  • One year of recent related experience preferably with seniors
  • Patience, kindness, compassion, and the ability to work collectively with your colleagues
  • Current First Aid certification
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the role (lifting, pushing, pulling, standing, walking)
  • Must provide a Criminal Record Check for the Vulnerable Sector and proof of COVID-19 vaccinations
