As a Research and Development Analyst, you will work to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Community Strategies division, including the Data Strategies team & the Calgary Fire Department (CFD) by conducting, interpreting, and presenting research and analysis findings. Primary duties include:
- Summarize and interpret analytical information and present findings.
- Conduct analyses on existing programs, policies, performance, and resource utilization.
- Document future growth plans and link these plans to future fire operations requirements by analyzing existing fire coverage and forecasting concepts.
- Evaluate long and short-term emergency response needs/priorities through analyzing and identifying the impact of demographics, geography, traffic, and economic and social/political trends.
- Compile, design and prepare major presentations for City Council meetings, budget sessions and public presentations.
- Represent the Data Strategies team and exchange valuable information by participating in The City of Calgary's corporate initiatives.
Qualifications
- A completed 2-year diploma in Economics, Social Sciences, or a related field and at least 5 years of analytical research experience is required.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required.
- Experience using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), electronic case management and risk assessment will be considered an asset.
- In depth experience with producing and changing reports using Power BI and/or Systems Applications and Products (SAP) Business Objects will be considered an asset.
- Success in this position requires strong communication and writing skills, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
